Good day inmates!

Disaster I say! Disaster! I’m feeling rather unwell this week. It’s not the great plague of 2020, don’t worry. Just a bit of a head cold. Seems to be going around a lot at the moment. Tis the season to be ill I suppose. It’s just making me feel rather run down and making my voice sound really low. Haha! It’s meant I’ve kept inside and working on my writing though, so silver linings and all that.

So, it’s that day of the week that I inflict the Harlequins writing music upon you all! You knew it was coming, don’t lie. So, todays musical theme is probably a bit of an obvious one given the season. The clue wasn’t exactly subtle. It’s Halloween! Samhain! Of course it is! My favourite time of the year, believe it or not! The voices in my head tend to enjoy it as well, so it keeps them quiet. I’m going to share with you five musical artists or individual songs that I feel embody this most spooky of festivals. From artists who dress up like monsters to heavy metal that personifies terror. I’m sure I can come up with a scare or two. Who doesn’t love a good scare eh?

So, join me as delve into the musical minds of ghastly artists the world over!

Faun – Halloween

And there we have it! How about those songs eh? Some suitably scary tunes there to be certain. I hope these get you guys into the proper Halloween spirit. Check out these artists by the way, they do deserve the views, Halloween or not. I’ll still be sharing my poems over the weekend. The Harlequin doesn’t take a day off you know, not even for all hallows eve.

How about some social media links? The asylum has a presence on a number of sites on the world wide web. I have an account on Facebook, a page over on Instagram and even a page on Twitter! Be sure to follow me on those pages too! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page! Cheers for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy week and a crazy Halloween inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a sublime day and an even nicer week! I’m doing quite well, aside from some pretty nasty sunburns. You may have seen a snippet of those burns in my poem ‘Scorcher’. Yes, it was rather painful though it is beginning to subside now. I was a bit ham-handed with the sun lotion and missed far too much, as well as forgetting to reapply it as the day went on. It’s been an exceedingly hot one here in the UK, particularly here in the south. It’s not really been concentration weather, but I have persevered to bring you lovely people my usual array of work. I hope that it has been up to a respectable standard this week.

So, its the time for the Harlequins writing music isn’t it? Well, I’ve got another good one for you lot this week. I shared the theme on my social media earlier on today. Did anybody guess it? I used a rather famous painting as the clue today.

Well the theme for todays music is the emotion of fear. Oh yes, fear. Unease, terror, anxiety. It can be fear manifesting in a multitude of ways that artists use as an ingredient in their song-writing. It could be tension of a particular kind of object or thing. Or perhaps it’s anxiety at socialising or just generally being around people. Maybe fear of the dark is an inspiration. There could simply be an arrangement in a song that instils fear in the listener, rather than representing the fear felt by the creator. It’s one of the most primal and powerful forces in the human (and animal) brain, so it stands to reason it can be not only a powerful motivator, but also a powerful inspirer. So, let’s see what I came up with this week eh? Could I scare the socks of your feet? Will I be able to raise your heartrate and make your hands clammy? I don’t know, but I’m going to show you some awesome music anyway.

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of terrifying artists the world over!

Iron Maiden – Fear Of The Dark

Blackbear – Anxiety

Jack Off Jill – Fear Of Dying

And there we have it folks! How about that? Did these songs scream fear to you? Did they even scare you with their lyrics? Well, it was worth a try I suppose. I would suggest checking out all of these artists regardless, they’re all deserving of love. Do it for me eh?

So, let’s get some scary social media spiel out! The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram and an account over on Twitter. Follow me over there for random stuff and clues for my poems a few hours ahead of time! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page! Your support is always appreciated! Thank you!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a wonderfully mad day today. I hope you’re also enjoying the dwindling days of October as well. It’s hard to believe November is so close already. But you know what that means! Halloween is near as well! My favourite day of the year. I’d happily give up Christmas for a second Halloween and no that is not a joke. Haha! As you may be able to tell, I’m feeling much better from my little slump last week. I’m still not quite sure what caused that but I’m glad its been given its marchin orders.

So things here at the asylum have been performing much the same as usual. Traffic seems to be down a bit at the moment which is a pity but I suppose things just go like that sometimes. As long as I’m not irritating folks with my work recently or something. I’d feel very bad in that situation.

So, with that aside, it’s time for this weeks edition of the Harlequins writing music! As halloween is fast approaching I figured I would create a “spooky” themed list today. I’m going to include six (yes that’s right, six!) of the freakiest and scariest artists that I could think of. We need some unsettling imagery in this place! Some of these are likely to be artists that I’ve shared before. Lets get some interesting music videos going eh?

Join me this Halloween eve week as we delve into the musical minds of scary artists the world over!

Broken Peach – Bad & Ghostbusters

So there we have it for another drop of the Harlequins writing music!

That last one was sort of a joke. A very good song, but hardly threatening. I’m a big fan of all of these artists and I think they all deserve just all of the love. Give a clown a hand would you? Check them all out, you’ll not be disappointed. Everyone needs a bit of fear in their lives, no? Especially at Halloween!

So, heres the usual social media spiel! I have a Facebook page for the asylum, an Instagram page and a Twitter account. I share random photos from my mad life and also include clues for my poems a few hours ahead of their release. Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-fi page. Cheers and I doff my hat to you!

Until next week, have a great Halloween inmates!

Hello again inmates!

Well, here it is! As I mentioned before, I’m posting something a little more “musical” and as unsurprising as it may be, it’s a Halloween special of the Harlequins writing music! It’s the time for trick-or-treating, costume parties and generally being freaky. Music can fit all of these things, music can transform fear into terror and unease into panic. Music and Halloween go hand in hand.

I listen to a great many bands, both obscure and popular. As you may know, I try to keep it as varied as i can. With Halloween upon us, I felt that it would be quite apt to post the bands and songs I write with that fit well with Halloween. Crunching metal epics, fancy costumes and spooky electronic jingles can all be found here. I believe I’ve posted a few of these bands before, but I shall try to keep the songs new. You may know some of these bands, you may not know some of them, however I guarantee you won’t be disappointed in these choices. Unless you’re easily freaked out I suppose.

Now, let us delve into the musical minds of freakish artists the world over!

So there we have it for another edition! I included a few more songs than usual, with this being a special occasion and all. Here’s hoping that you’ve enjoyed this edition of the Harlequins writing music, I hope that you check out these artists. And once again, I hope that you all have a very happy Halloween! Now, I’m going to go and cut a pumpkin, or something like that. Haha!

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!
