Daetrolos: A word on Bulrin

WorldofHarley

Bulrin empire

“Depending who you talk to, Bulrin can go by many different names. Some positive, others not so much. The Blighted Jewel. The Empire. The Eastern Power. The Home Of Alchemy. The list goes on. Universally however, Bulrin can be known both as an economic and martial powerhouse. Few lands on Primea have not been affected by the Empire, whether it be through conflict, diplomacy, trade or exploration. It is a leader in industry, mining and science. Many say it is ahead of its main rival by quite a margin.

Bulrin is a large empire on the eastern ‘prong’ of the continent of Primea that has lastly nearly a thousand years now. Although primarily of human stock, the empire is far more accepting of other sentient races than its rival: the Kingdom of Riefe. Demiens, Forns, Mawkins and even Julmurns are usually welcomed with open arms.  The Empire formed after a…

Daetrolos: An anthropomorphic study

WorldofHarley

“I may be human myself, but it seems unfair to write these studies on our fellow Primean inhabitants without mentioning my own kind. It’s not exactly wrong to say that Humans are a central, if not THE central, race on Primea. I will attempt to write this from an outside perspective, but i feel that will be challenging at best. Regardless, I’m a scholar. I will do my best. I will, however, attempt to keep it reasonably brief.

Humans are one of the most common races on Primea, if not Daetrolos. They are an ancient race that allegedly evolved from primates. They tend to be extremely varied. A very adaptable race, individuals can range from very pale to near black skin. Individuals exhibit a large variety of hair colors and a seemingly random spectrum of weights and heights. Humans are hugely intelligent, able to achieve almost anything they put their…

Entreaty of the Coward

WorldofHarley

Hate me not for my cowardice.
Hate me not for me gutlessness.
Hate me not for my shoddy aim,
Nor my quick feet.

Hate me not for my surrender.
Hate me not for my skyward hands.
Hate me not for my lost friends,
Nor my guiltless enemy.

Hate me not for my treason.
Hate me not for failing my nation.
Hate me not for refusing to kill,
Nor dropping my gun.

Hate me for my white flag.
Hate me for retaining my love.
Hate me for siding with my conscience,
And keeping my humanity intact.

So-called courageous and heroic souls,
Can you say the same?

Regime

WorldofHarley

Hark!
Fall to your bloodstained knees,
Hear these words as you toil,
The clergy of oppression has spoken,
Protestant,
Catholic,
Or otherwise,
Seal your minds and follow our words.

God loves you,
Rationality is heresy,
Creativity is unholy,
Ideas are unhealthy,
Lovers are adulterous,
Progressives are witches,
Repeat after your clergy,
God loves you.

God cherishes you,
Bigotry is a strong faith,
Prejudice is your only shield,
Works of art are false idols,
Butchers of men are crusaders,
Your asinine resolve is stagnation,
Repeat after your clergy,
God cherishes you.

Worship your so-called god freely,
Revel in the regime,
And repeat after me,
Amen?

Stalwart

Stalwart

WorldofHarley

Are your foundations of hope shuddering?
Does your world face a personal doom?
Do you hear crucifying words at your flanks?
Do even your friends show jackal teeth?
Is your heart drooping like a victim of the hangman’s noose?

Then find a solitary place,
Away from all of that pollution,
And throw your head and arms up to the warm sky,
Cry out for salvation and hope.

Enter the ever-just Stalwart,
He will come to your aid,
Clad in gleaming gold armor,
And wielding a glorious aegis,
He will be your ally.

Diminutive yet tenacious,
Staunch yet loving,
Simple yet virtuous,
Silent yet vigilant,
Firm yet chivalrous.

He lives to protect the troubled,
His only armament a wooden sword,
And his golden armor topped by an oaken bascinet,
His sword represents his lack of a life of his own,
And his helm illustrates his lack of a mind.

Yet he…

Always

WorldofHarley

My life,
Hardship, always for me.

Gratitude, always for another.

Restriction, always for me.

Freedom, always for another.

Obscurity, always for me.

Fame, always for another.

Envy, always for me.

Love, always for another.

Unsightliness, always for me.

Life, always for another.

Moonlight

WorldofHarley

I am hers,
And she will be mine.

I gaze upon her countenance nightly.
I worship her glowing radiance,
I marvel at her saintly luminosity,
I dote on every chilling whisper,
I cherish her mysterious embrace,
I admire her womanly curves.

I am hers,
And she will be mine.

Bah!
I speak not of some humble woman,
But of the grandest beauty in this mortal coil,
See how she watches over us,
Even as the treacherous sun turns its back.
If only I could caress her.

I am hers,
And she will be mine.

This void betwixt won’t keep us apart forever!
I’ll tear the very heavens down to kiss you,
To bask in your lunar glare,
To massage your crater-strewn form,
To take a place in the cold beside you,
To waltz in orbit with you.

I am hers,
And she is mine.
Or else.

Periphery

Periphery

WorldofHarley

They say the eye is the window to the soul.
You can see a persons good in their eyes.
And their evil.
A looking glass to the soul.
An eye reveals who someone truly is.

But what of your periphery?
That forgotten component of this looking glass.
Your periphery is a nexus for your imagination.
An object seen in the corner of your eye could become anything.
A friend?
A threat?
A mystery?

Was that shape a killer?
Was that flash a specter?
Was that shadow a monster?
Was that light an angel?
The corner of your eye could be benevolent.
Or it could be treasonous.
It depends on your imagination.

Do you dream of love and peace in this world?
Or do you perhaps dream of carnage and villains?
Do you imagine worlds of shadow and mystery?
Then look to your periphery vision.
It could show you anything you…

The Master Thief

WorldofHarley

There is a criminal in the city,
A dreaded master thief,
Not afraid to hunt in the daylight,
Clad in black,
And with a scarlet cloth around his neck,
He creeps in brand new brogues.

Hunting house to house,
Man or woman,
Rich or poor,
Young or venerable,
Homeless or sheltered,
He cares not,
For he views all wealth as his own.

Payslips,
Bank accounts,
Wallets,
Hidden stashes,
They all belong to him,
For he is the master thief,
He owns the bank.

Red Stamp

WorldofHarley

New Monday.
New week.
Same old work.
Same old desk.
Boss is a bigot.
Bored of life.
Hate working at the warrant office.

Case-file 1.
First of many.
20 something female.
Artist.
No native family.
Boring.
Sentenced to termination.

Case-file 2.
Getting hungry now.
Young infant.
Found on the border.
Parents shot dead by security nearby.
Impressionable.
Sentenced to indoctrination.

Case-file 3.
Young foreign couple.
Boring.
Sentenced to termination.
Can’t wait for work to end.
Hate this tedious job.
Nothing interesting ever happens at the warrant office.

This red termination stamp is getting worn out too.
