Good day inmates!

I hope you’re all having a good day. Mine has been an interesting one too. I overslept once again and forgot my medication. It’s been something of a trend this week unfortunately. But on the plus side, I’ve gotten a few poems out that i’m really happy with. In particular my most recent one “The Enclave” as it’s quite dear to my heart. This place I’m allowed to live in is full of the nicest and quirkiest characters I’ve ever known. The poem was a sort of “THANK YOU!!” to them.

So here we are with another edition of the Harlequins writing music. I’ve decided to do something slightly different for this particular volume. Something very strange you could say. I’ve decided to highlight a specific artist whom I admire and listen to almost daily. Drumroll please…

It is none other than Mr Strange! This glamourous artist has inspired me countless times. Their views on society and individuality are right up my alley. I’ve followed them since the days they were known as the Shanklin Freak Show! Their bizarre look and general oddity is a constant source of delight for me. I’ll be sharing five of their songs which I consider the best, though I’d suggest listening to everything they’ve produced!

So, join me as delve into the deviant minds of Mr Strange!

Mr Strange – Lizard Man

Mr Strange – Do It Like Pete Burns

The Shanklin Freak Show – The Last Show On Earth

Mr Strange – Exile

Mr Strange – Contact

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! As anyone who has read one of these posts before should know, I always include a link to an artists website or general webpage. This one shall be no different. You can find Mr Strange at https://www.facebook.com/Official.Mr.Strange/. I certainly hope you all give them a listen! They’re truly something else!

As for me, I shall bid you adieu and I have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello again inmates!

Well, here it is! As I mentioned before, I’m posting something a little more “musical” and as unsurprising as it may be, it’s a Halloween special of the Harlequins writing music! It’s the time for trick-or-treating, costume parties and generally being freaky. Music can fit all of these things, music can transform fear into terror and unease into panic. Music and Halloween go hand in hand.

I listen to a great many bands, both obscure and popular. As you may know, I try to keep it as varied as i can. With Halloween upon us, I felt that it would be quite apt to post the bands and songs I write with that fit well with Halloween. Crunching metal epics, fancy costumes and spooky electronic jingles can all be found here. I believe I’ve posted a few of these bands before, but I shall try to keep the songs new. You may know some of these bands, you may not know some of them, however I guarantee you won’t be disappointed in these choices. Unless you’re easily freaked out I suppose.

Now, let us delve into the musical minds of freakish artists the world over!

Here’s hoping that you’ve enjoyed this edition of the Harlequins writing music, I hope that you check out these artists. And once again, I hope that you all have a very happy Halloween! Now, I’m going to go and cut a pumpkin, or something like that. Haha!

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

Well, new month, new writing music post! I’ve got quite a few more of my ‘writing bands’ to go yet. I’m always finding new songs and new bands that inspire me, whether they be energetic metal songs, thumping steam punk songs or ghostly electronic songs. Or some that are altogether more bizarre. It just goes to show that you shouldn’t be close-minded about music. Don’t limit yourself to individual bands or genres. You simply limit your own inspiration.

Join me once again as we delve into the incredible minds of artists the world over!
