Good day inmates!

Here’s hoping that you are all having a explicitly marvellous day or night, wherever you are. Well, it’s hard to believe that another year is coming to a close. Christmas is nigh once more. 2017 seems to have gone remarkably fast! It’s been a perplexing year, with many good and bad things happening in tandem. Real life always seems to get in the way eh? I know the blog has been a touch on the quiet side, but I’d like to think that it’s coming back to life a bit now. On that note, I hope you’ve all been enjoying my newest poems.

So, it’s time for another edition of the Harlequins writing music. This is the 21st edition of this now, that’s pretty damn crazy. Perhaps crazier than me! As always, I’m finding new musical artists who bring new images, sounds and colours to my mindscape. Music is the ultimate inspirational factor in life, in my opinion. A song can inspire a story of woe or wonder. A song can provoke emotions of all shades. A song can galvanize ones writing, acting as a ‘nudge out of the door’ so to speak. It truly is a marvellous thing!

Once again, join me as I delve into the musical minds of inimitable artists the world over!

Illenium – Sleepwalker

ZZ Top – Sharp Dressed Man

Korn – Hater

Iron Maiden – The Trooper

Marshmello – Alone

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! I hope that you fellow inmates of the world take a look at these artists, they’re all pretty great! As for my next writing music post, I’m going to try something a little bit different. I have two separate ideas for that, so we’ll see how it goes. Anyways, that’s enough rambling from this tired old Harlequin!

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

While you dream softly,
They watch over your home,
Across the stars,

Gods of combat,
Gods of bullet and blade,
Frames of war,

The Tenno,
A name feared by evil,
Sent forth by a cosmic mother,

Knights of the system,
Stalwart against imperial tyranny,
And ancient horrors,

Her will be done.

Hello inmates.

I haven’t done one of these in a rather long time. Not since 2014! I’m not sure why, I suppose it simply never really came up. Maybe I haven’t been reminiscing as much recently. Anyway, I quite liked the idea of it before, So I’ve decided to make another with some of my older poems in it. It seemed apt with the new year looming in the horizon. Mayhap a little self-indulgent, but I don’t want my older poems to be forgotten. So, I would encourage any newer inmates to take a gander, You might see something you like!

The Clockwork Dragon – A tale of a frightening mechanical nightmare.
Internal Hydra – A poem, or perhaps an introspection, on humanity’s inner monster.
Red Stamp – An experimental poem about the horrors of fascism.
Night Sky – A poem about my adoration of the night.
Shotgun Romance – A twisted poem about love.
Sorcery – A poem about the magic of our own potential.
Beast of Eyes – A story of an otherworldly being.
Dirge of the Jester – One of my few forays into rhyme.

So there we have it. Just my personal picks from my archives. Every piece of writing I create is important to me, so I’d appreciate it immensely if you would let me know what you think. Here’s hoping that you won’t regret having a read.

On a side note, I hope you’ve been enjoying my more recent works! I’ve been getting back into the routine of writing daily, and I’ve been feeling so much better for it. Thanks to every one of you who takes the time to visit the asylum!

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Death is my lord,
I am his reaper,
And his scythe,
My blade is his,
I am the Manhunter,

This long coat hides a herald of death,
He pays in cold coin,
And I pay in cold dead eyes,
Those whose time has come,
Those whom have his icy hand upon their shoulder,

My life was already taken,
Eons ago,
A bloody wedding gown and an empty crib,
Death made a joke that day,
I couldn’t help but chuckle,

I am the Manhunter,
Nothing personal,
Just business,
The cycle of life,
Even monsters must eat,

Do you feel his gelid breath?

Welcome to my home stranger,
Wipe your coats and hang up your shoes,
Make yourself at home please,
It is my fortress,
My sanctum,
My workshop,

Within its walls lies wonder,
And a hint of madness,
Here manifests my literary alchemy,
My lyrical experimentation,
It is a realm of perpetual loneliness,
But also true clarity,

I write every colour under the sun,
Angels in freefall playing violins,
Ballet with stars,
Dragons saving damsels,
Ghosts in pitched food-fights,
And heroes with villainous grins,

Stories and sonnets,
Poems and poesy,
This playground has all of these,
And so much more,
This is my castle,
This is my fortress,

Safe from the siege of outside rationality,
Safe from the slings and arrows of the world,
Safe from sanity.

There’s trouble ahead,
There’s hellfire on the horizon,
The drumbeat continues,
Humanity marches unabated,
Craters and mushroom clouds ahead,

Out of tune,
Ragged drums and dilapidated regalia,
Painted-on smiles,
Out of step,
Unwashed humanity parading ever onward,

Cracked lips and grazed knees,
The drumbeat continues,
Complaining of weary eyes,
Insanity personified,
Driven on regardless by the beat of life,

The state of this world,
The state of this procession,
Mired in misery and dissention,
Enough for a thousand dirges,
There’s trouble ahead,

The drumbeat continues.

Good day inmates!

Happy eclipse day or whatsoever they decide to call today. Apparently there is supposed to be an eclipse at some point today, which is rather fascinating even though I am unlikely to witness it here in the UK. Still, it’s quite amazing that such a cosmic event is happening. Anybody out there in internetland going to try and witness it?

Things are functioning much the same way as usual here at the asylum. I seem to be in a bit of a pit in terms of writing inspiration at the moment. I’ve been coming up with poem ideas, then scrapping said ideas ad infinitum. It’s maddening really. Hehe. Maddening.

So, I thought I’d make another one of the Harlequins writing music posts today. Not for any reason in particular, I’ve just been listening to a plethora of music artists today and I felt I should share some of them. Nothing wrong with an impromptu spectacle of musical excellence eh? Quite an array of genres on show today I think. Here’s hoping you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Once again, let us delve into the musical minds of hellacious artists the world over!

EDEN – Wake Up

Aviators – Fading light

Toto – Africa

Stephen – Crossfire

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! I can’t believe I’ve made 20 of these now. I must be truly insane. Maybe, As always I hope that everyone who reads this enjoys it. I urge you all to check out these bands, even if you don’t think you’ll like their specific niches. You might be surprised.

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

To most who look,
Poetry looks a glorious act,
A noble act,
But it’s a lie,
It is butchery,

I hack and cleave,
Words into prime cuts,
Punctuation into mince,
It is a foul process,
The table glistens with grease and crimson,

Exsanguinate the prose,
And remove narrative viscera,
Carve a strip of exposition there,
And rend from it superfluous fat,
My pen thirsts for more,

Boiling bones of expression,
Reducing them to grist for future ventures,
Everything is red,
The grisly work is done,
For the punters to love and hate,

Caked in blood and gore,
Of projects discarded,
I am no writer,
No poet,
I am a butcher.

Good day inmates!

My My, it has been a long while hasn’t it? It’s been about a year since my last post, my recent reblog notwithstanding.  This is something I am rather ashamed of, to be honest. I consider myself a writer but have committed myself to next-to no writing whatsoever. It is a great shame to me. I’d be quite surprised if many out there even remember the WorldofHarley or myself. If anybody does though, thank you kindly! You must be mad!

But alas, I am here to rectify all of that now. The Oldschool Harlequin is back and I will be sticking to it this time. It has been ,and will continue to be, a busy year but what is life without a challenge, no?

So I thought I’d return with one of my writing music posts since I am going to be listening to this stuff constantly while I burn the midnight oil. It is aural brain-fuel after all. It’s time for part 19! As always, I shall be displaying five music artists that I love to listen to and that inspire me and my writing. It can be any genre and sometimes I even surprise myself with the stuff I listen to.

So, without further ado, let us delve into the musical minds of masterly artists the world over!

Paddy and the Rats – Ghost From The Barrow

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Bad Moon Rising

Zardonic – Pure Power

Stevie Wonder – Superstition

Placebo – Running Up That Hill

So there we have it for another volume of the Harlequins writing music! It’s been too long since I made one of these and I am sorry that. I hope that you guys have enjoyed this edition and will continue to check into the blog going forward. Be sure to give all of these artists your love, they are all exceptional (at least in my opinion). Be sure to check out my previous writing music posts, you’ll be surprised with the wonders you may uncover.

Until next time, have a very crazy day!

Feeling a touch nonsensical today,
Feeling a dash ridiculous,
My mind is scarlet jelly,
These thoughts are hundreds and thousands,

Once lost which way does a page turn?

Can a cookie become a chef?

Does winter prevail in many competitions?

Can a merchant learn to sale a ship?

Does my coffee need some medicine?

Can a mansion ever be a lady?

Random thoughts dart about,
I know I’m not making any sense,
But did I ever?

Nonsense
