Hello there inmates!

Another week, another meandering post by yours truly! It’s getting much warmer now and that can only be a good thing. Except for one point. It’s a bank holiday this weekend coming up and, while that is great news for anybody that deserves a 3-day weekend, it means I have some rather long and stressful shifts on the way. As some of you may have noticed already, my posting schedule has been a little on the sporadic side for a week or two. This is simply me taking longer than usual to adjust to a new set of challenges I suppose. This weekend is just an example of that really. I’ll get there though my friends, I’ll get there! On the plus side: sun and money!

So anyways, you’re not here to listen to me rant about life are you? You’re here for the ‘CHOONS!’ right? Well, did you see the clue for our theme earlier today? It was one of my more obvious ones, in my opinion.

The theme for our Harlequins writing music today is really quite cool I think. It’s a breezy and often multicoloured thing that we all experience every day in some form or other. Ok, I’ll stop beating around the mulberry bush! The musical theme for today is the sky! Like I said, the clue was a little more apparent than previous ones. So, the sky then. You see what I mean about cool (or hot) and breezy and everywhere? It’s the firmament. It’s the aerial landscape. It is just as much as symbol of freedom as the open ocean, at least in my eyes. It’s something that can be blue or grey or orange or even black. So, as you’d imagine, musically songs about the sky can be pretty much just as varied. I’m not going to try and describe how the literal atmosphere can inspire art to you, I’m going to show you how five artists whom were inspired such.

So yes, please join me as we delve into the musical minds of airy artist the world over!

Owl City – To The Sky

Florence + The Machine – Sky Full Of Song

https://www.instagram.com/ciderskyband/?hl=en

Manowar – Touch the Sky
https://manowar.com/

Arkasia – Pandemonium
https://www.facebook.com/ArkasiaConcept/

And there we have it once again! I actually tried to go for some more “out there” examples of my theme this week. Less traditional views of the sky, if that makes sense to any of you. Even if it doesn’t, I hope that you enjoy the musical choices this week regardless. My intention is to entertain first and foremost of course. Please go and check out these artists anyways, they all deserve the attention as ever!

Speaking of attention, mind if I request some of yours? In the social media sense you understand. It’s a hard time being a poetic clown on the internet you know! Would you consider supporting me on my other sites as well? I’ll include the links here in the text as ever! The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram and a page over on Twitter as well. Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day!

Salutations inmates!

Here we are at the centre of another week eh? Hump day some people call it. What a bizarre name! Anyways, how is everybody doing out there? It’s been a fairly decent week here at the asylum. I’ve been slowly but surely getting to grips with my new employment. It’s a lot for me to take in but I’m getting there. I’ve certainly been feeling more productive because of it though, outside of my writing that is. Though it has had the unfortunate side-effect of messing up my posting schedule somewhat. It’s going through a period of flux I suppose, I’ll get back on track before long.

Speaking of getting back on track, let’s get to the point of todays post. It’s time once again for the Harlequins writing music and that wouldn’t be complete without a theme would it? Did anybody see my clue for the theme earlier today? It was a deliberately vague one of course. In fact, that in itself adds to todays theme. You’ll see what I mean in a moment.

And now that moment is passed, let’s reveal the theme eh? Todays writing music is all about mystery! We’re going to be listening to music about the unknown and the unknowable. It’s quite a hard topic to actually describe to be honest. It’s all about things that are hard for the human mind to contemplate. There are so many things or concepts out there that we don’t yet understand. Scientific, supernatural or maybe even geographically. Whether that be in terms of the lesser-known metaphysical aspects of the world we live in, things living out there in the unknown or simply the mysteries surrounding other people. You see what I mean? Did that sentence actually make any sense to anybody? I’m not even sure I understood it. Maybe the music will explain better than my addled mind can eh? Let’s try that!

Please join me as we delve into the musical minds of unknowable artists the world over!

Abney Park – All The Myths Are True

Alice Cooper – Paranormal
https://alicecooper.com/

Walker Mcquire – Mysteries Of The World
https://www.walkermcguire.com/

Leblanc – Unknown
https://www.instagram.com/leblaanc/

And there we have it! This weeks theme was hard to pin down, even for me to be honest. It’s a MYSTERY as to why. Ha. Ha! Ok, not funny. Regardless, I hope that you will enjoy the music that I’ve picked for this list. Maybe you’ll discover an artist you’ve never heard of before. A mysterious music artist, as it were. Ha.

I’m going to just quickly bash out my usual social media spiel now. The asylum has a few social media sites that it’d be wonderful for you to consider giving me a follow or like on too. The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram as well and lastly a page on Twitter too. Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well. Thanks for everything my friends!

Until next week, have a crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

So we’re in a new week and it’s been a pretty good one at that. The weather has been hit or miss, but stuff in my personal life is really starting to look up a bit more. I may have found new employment that is likely to be a bit of an adventure for me. It’s an area I’ve only really scratched in the past. It’s been a real morale boost though, I can tell you that for nothing! I’m still very nervous about it despite the fact I’ve started already, but they have made me feel very welcome and I’m optimistic, which is always good! Smiles all around right now, painted or otherwise!

You know what day it is! Wednesday! Hopefully most of you know what that means here at the asylum. For anybody who is less accustomed to my “schedule” here, on Wednesdays I bypass writing a poem for the day and I share some music that I like to listen to while writing. These days, I typically keep to a single theme that the songs will emphasise. Think of it as a writing exercise as well as a showcase of some pretty awesome tunes! I shared the clue for todays musical theme on social media earlier on today. Did anybody see it?

Well, whether you saw it or not, here goes nothing! Todays musical theme is…. plants or botany! As many of you may know, I’ve created writing music lists about the animal kingdom in the past, so it’s only fair I represent the plant kingdom for once too eh? Just like any aspect of the natural world, flora has inspired artists of every discipline over the many years. From painters creating landscapes of flowering fields to writers creating alien plants for a fantasy universe. It could be the myriad looks and shapes and sizes of plants that could inspire ideas in an artists writing or creating. The tallest and most regal trees to the frankly bizarre varieties of flowers out there. They represent as many different things as there are plants out in the world. They are symbols of human ideas, just like the elements and many animals can be. So, perhaps I should get to the music eh? That’s what we all like!

So please, join me as we delve into the music of green-thumbed artists the world over!

Seal – Kiss from a Rose

Black Sabbath – Orchid

Goo Goo Dolls – Iris
https://www.googoodolls.com/

Incubus – Psychopsilocybin
https://www.incubushq.com/

King Diamond – The Trees Have Eyes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Diamond

And there we have it once again! If I trusted myself with a watering can I’d almost be tempted to get a little garden of snapping flytraps myself after all that! I’m not sure I could be trusted with flowers or the like to be honest. I know for a fact I can trust you lovely people to check out all of these artists and give them some love! They all deserve it, as I’m sure you’ll agree if you’ve read this far!

Speaking of which, If you’ve read this far, would be so kind as to just stick with me for this last bit. It’s my usual social media spiel you see! I am working as hard as I can to increase my reach on social media sites and bring my poems to as many eyes as I can. It’s an uphill battle as you can imagine but you could help me out by considering following or liking me over on those sites. I’ll include links here as always so give me a thought eh? The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram and lastly an account on Twitter as well! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything and no pressure!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

How goes the week? We’re only halfway through after all! It’s been rather positive over here at the asylum so far. Me and the voices have been cleaning cobwebs and all sorts. I wouldn’t call it full-on spring cleaning, but it’s made the room a bit fresher. I’ve been rather happy with the poetic output since last week as well. It’s been some time since I’ve been genuinely happy with how all of my poems have come out. I’m a naturally negative and self-deprecating person at the best of times (I know! Shocker!) and that translates into how I view my work a lot of the time. It may sound odd but I think the slowly improving weather, and the increase in sun, has helped my outlook in general. Not to mention I’ve continued to speak to fellow poets and artists on the Facebook page more too so I don’t feel quite so isolated. I’m rambling again aren’t I? Sorry, I don’t really get to rant at someone in person often.

So, on to the meat and potatoes of todays post! We’re here for the Harlequins writing music aren’t we? Well technically I’m here to write the post, but yeah! Did anybody see the clue for the musical theme earlier on today? I didn’t actually make it clear in the clue post, but todays theme is in fact related to a specific band once again. You’re going to love them I swear!

The musical theme and our musical guests for today are… Gunship! Now these fellows are a rather unique band that I don’t think get anywhere near enough exposure. They’re a band from the UK that have been active since 2014 roughly though I believe I didn’t hear of them until a couple years later. The best way I can describe their genre would be synthwave. It’s an electronic subgenre that, as you’d imagine, relies rather heavily on synthesizers to produce their innovative sounds. It’s a genre that evokes the feelings and images of the late 80s, particularly science-fiction, horror and vintage video games. It may also conjure the aesthetic of classic action movies like the Stallone or Schwarzenegger era. Think a musical companion to Blade Runner or Contra or Knight Rider. That’ll prepare you pretty well for the fabulous music of Gunship. Just as an aside, their music videos are badass too! Right, let’s get on with it eh?

Please join me as we delve into the musical minds of Gunship!

Gunship – Pink Mist

Gunship – Tech Noir

Gunship – Dark All Day

Gunship – Ghost

Gunship – Fly For Your Life

And there we have it! I don’t mean to alarm anybody but I think may have a Terminator after me. Oh wait, no. That was just the music. Crisis averted! So I hope that you all enjoy the musical musings of Gunship and I do hope that you all go and check out more of their stuff. I really think they deserve to get more mainstream attention. They’re not the only synthwave artists out there of course, it’s a rather healthy scene as I understand it. I’d also recommend artists like Carpenter Brut or Kavinsky if you enjoy Gunship. I’ll include the Gunship website just below as always too.

Gunship website: https://www.gunshipmusic.com/

Speaking of websites, do y’all mind checking out my social media ones. The asylum has a few that I share my poems on and also provide clues for my poems a few hours ahead of publishing them. I’m working on growing them as much as possible too as I want to meet as many of you inmates out there as I can! The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account over on Instagram and lastly and indeed leastly an account on Twitter as well! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

I’ve felt remarkably free today. Not quite sure where that has come from, but it was so badly needed. I’ve been in something of a rut in my private life recently and for some reason when I woke up today it just felt like it had lifted somewhat. Let’s hope it continues eh? So, how are all of you this week? I’ve been connecting with some really amazing poets in the last week or two and it’s been really eye-opening. There is just oodles of people out there just like me, except for different nuances and styles of course. I’ve not had much option to talk to other writers or poets during my life so far (with the exception of lovely people here on WordPress), so it’s been really enlightening and heart-warming at the same time.

So it’s that time of the week again folks! The Harlequins writing music is here once more! I have a really fabulous theme for you lot today I swear. It’s one I’m surprised I’ve not actually done before. According to my disjointed memory anyway. Did any of you see the clue for it earlier today?

Well, whether you crazy cats did or not, I’m going to tell you todays theme now. I’m nice like that! Todays writing music theme is… Steampunk! Now I know for a fact I’ve shared some artists of this kind in the past numerous times but I don’t think I’ve made a post specifically for them yet. So what is Steampunk? Well, It isn’t exactly just a genre of music. It’s an entire subculture in it’s own right, like goth or EDM. Ok, but what is it Harley? Ok ok, I’ll tell you. Imagine that the age of steam and the fashions of the Victorian era never died out. Now imagine that same style but brought into a sort of pseudo-science fiction level of technology. Think enormous steam-powered airships in the skies, brassy mechanical limbs or bodies and most of all, Victorian fashion. Yep, Top hats and corsets and goggles and the like. Throw in some spaghetti-western stuff and you may come a bit close to Steampunk.

As for the music, it’s less a particular musical style and more of a subject matter and a visual presence. Steampunk artists can wield almost any kind of instrument you can think of. They may use electronics. They may go old-fashioned with fiddles and accordions. They may just go for guitars and drums. The point being, the exploration of a steamy world that never was is the point of steampunk, not a particular musical methodology. Does that make sense? Maybe some demonstrations would serve better than the words of a madman eh?

In that case, please join me as we delve into the musical minds of Steampunk artists the world over!

https://www.cogisdead.com/

Professor Elemental – I’m British
https://www.professorelemental.com/

The Clockwork Quartet – The Doctor’s Wife
http://clockworkquartet.com/

And there we are! I kind of want to ride in a hot air balloon all of a sudden for some reason. That’s probably my imagination right? So anyways, I hope that these artists have given you a fair idea of what I was going on about. You should be experts on Steampunk by this point! Don’t forget to go and show these wonderful artists some love as well. It is something of a niche genre as you can imagine so I’m sure they’d appreciate some more fans!

I don’t really want fans, but I would love for you all to come join me as inmates on my social media sites! I’m doing my utmost to grow my pages, the Facebook one in particular right now so please think about coming over and following/liking on those as well. The asylum has a page on Facebook as previously mentioned, but I’m also got a page on Instagram and an account over on Twitter as well! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on my Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

And another week grinds on. It has indeed felt like a slow one I’m afraid. Fruitful but glacial, you know? It’s been alright though, I’m soldiering through as always. I’ve been continuing to work on growing the Facebook page which has actually been a lot of fun. It’s not something I’ve really put a great deal of thought in to, a bit like I was rambling about last week. I seem to do that a lot in these posts don’t I? Rambling and ranting about utter nonsense. I kind of just riff off whatever is trawling around my brain at any given moment while on these posts. It’s a hobby, what can I say?

So, on to slightly less meandering words. It’s the day for the Harlequins writing music! Don’t worry, I hadn’t forgotten! Did anybody see todays theme clue? For those who may be new here, each week (on Wednesdays) I share five songs tied to one another by a particular theme that I pick. These artists and pieces of music are things I often listen to while spawning my poetry. I thought the clue today was actually a rather nice looking piece of art in its own right. Stock photos can be really impressive sometimes.

Well, on to the theme eh? Want to know what it is? Naaaah, you’d rather hear about my dinner wouldn’t you? No? Oh, fine. The theme for our writing music today is… fairytales! We’ve all heard them during our lives. Whether it be bedtime stories told by our sires during our younger years. Or through the slightly adjusted stories depicted in Disney movies. Maybe you prefer some of the less sanitary depictions in the Grimm tales? Out of curiosity, what are your favourites? Let me know eh? These tales are somewhat timeless and have inspired countless pieces of artwork, both auditory and visual. I’ve lost count of the number of Cheshire Cat or Alice paintings or pictures I’ve seen over the years, for example. The whimsy and mystery of fairytales or the high fantasy and escapism of make-believe. These have inspired all kinds of musicians and I’m going to try and show y’all some of my favourites. Let’s get to it eh?

Please join me as we delve into the musical minds of whimsical artists the world over!

And there we have it for another week! It was very difficult not to just load the list up with Disney songs I must admit! This proved a little more difficult than I anticipated simply because my mind seemed to go half-blank in the process of typing it. Most inconvenient. Regardless, I hope you all enjoy the picks for this week and go ahead and check out all of these artists too. They all deserve it!

Speaking of checking out, would you kindly check out my social media sites? The asylum is always looking for new inmates and following or liking me on all of these sites is the best way to do that. No straitjackets necessary I swear! I have a page over on Facebook, an account over on Instagram and lastly a page on Twitter as well! Links included here as always! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello once again inmates!

How goes your week so far? Has it been another week of artistic grace? Oh, I’m sure it has been you amazing little mites! Heehee! It’s been a rather busy one for myself as well. I’ve been giving a lot more attention to the Facebook page recently and it’s beginning to bear fruit. Very small fruit, but fruit nonetheless. It recently passed the 200 followers mark which has taken an ungodly amount of time, primarily due to my own apathy. It’s been more fun than I realised it could be though. I’ve actually been interacting with other stupendously talented artists on the platform and it’s been a real eyeopener. I hope to make some more writing friends I must admit. With social media “marketing”, you obviously get what you give so showing the page some love has actually granted me progress. I really hope this is a sign for the future.

So, let’s get on to the main event for todays post eh? It’s the time for the Harlequins writing music! You know what I’m going to ask next don’t you? Sure you do! Did anybody see the clue for todays musical theme? It was over on all of my social media sites, including Instagram and Twitter. You should check those out too by the way! The theme today was actually suggested by one of my best friends who also lives on the island. We’ve been suffering some fairly major rain the last few days with some recordings of 96mph winds on the more coastal parts.

Saying all that above, you may be able to guess the theme. Yep. The theme for todays music is, in fact, the rain! As an Englishman, I’m more than a little bit experienced with the bloody rain. It’s almost a yearlong thing, whether it be the depths of winter or the cloud nines of summer. I think it’s safe to say many people from other countries probably know that British stereotype of grey skies and drizzle. Rain represents all sorts of things to different people. It can be representative of sorrow and depression, the very image of a crying lady in a downpour. It can also denote serenity and calm. The sombre tones of showers outside of your window while you sleep. Singing and dancing in the rain and the desperation of struggling through a storm. Obviously this translates to all kinds of music as well. It’s one of the elements at the end of the day and they’re eminent in the human experience. It’s no wonder so many (including myself) use it to represent things in their art. Anyways, we want to see how musicians embody it today don’t we? So let’s get to it!

Please join me as we delve into the musical minds of drenched artists the world over!

Crowded House – Weather With You

Carpenters – Rainy Days And Mondays

And there we have it! If I didn’t have the window shut right now I’d swear I felt a drop on my head! Quite an eclectic mix there for you all to savour. I’m sure there are countless others that you guys could come up with as well. Be sure to dodge the showers though eh? Haha! As always I hope that you all check out these artists, as they ever deserve the attention! Even if you don’t necessarily gravitate towards certain genres I implore you to give them a try. You never know!

So on to my usual social media spiel! As I mentioned above, I’m really trying to increase the reach of my social media sites to hopefully spread my work to new people. I just know there are other inmates out there! I have a few social media sites and I’ll include links here as always for your convenience. The asylum has a page over on Facebook as I was talking about earlier, I have an account on Instagram and lastly a page over on Twitter as well! It’d mean a great deal if you’d consider following/liking me over on those sites as well! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything my friends!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I was going to start this little ramble talking about how it’s starting to be sunny enough to definitely feel like we’ve left winter. However, I guess Mother Nature had other ideas cause it’s turned a little bit grey and drizzly again today. I believe the forecast ahead is alright, but the timing was just sort of amusing. No I’m not just going to go on about the weather. Shush! So what’s been going on out there this week? Didn’t that orange man finally get arraigned for something? I don’t really watch the news, particularly from other nations, but it’s hard to miss mentions of that. I suppose something had to take him down a notch, even if nothing substantial occurs. The asylum doesn’t really have a horse in the race but he seemed unkind.

Do you know what’s not unkind though? Music! Well sometimes it is I suppose. People make hit-pieces and such. Shut up and get on with it Harley! Ahem. Well, music can also be great can’t it? And that’s what we’re all here for! Did anybody see the clue for our theme today? It was a pretty obvious one this week.

The musical theme for this week is… the ladies! Yep, the mothers and sisters! I mentioned in a previous edition of the Harlequins writing music post that I’d likely come back to this theme. In fact, I’ll include the link to that post right here! So, I’m not sure what I can say this time that I didn’t cover previously. There are countless wonderful female music artists (and non-music ones too) out there. They bring a marginally different perspective to everything in the world from us lads. As such, they have a wealth of viewpoints that only they can really bring to life. Motherhood, childbirth and other social issues that the fairer sex tend to be affected by more. This translates to all kinds of music of course. I feel that some text written by some unhinged man doesn’t really get the point across so why don’t I let the ladies take over eh?

Please, join me as we delve into the musical minds of female artists the world over!

Lady Gaga – The Edge Of Glory

Fit For Rivals – Damage
https://freakmachinerecords.com/pages/fitforrivals

Evanescence – My Immortal
https://evanescencestore.com/

And there we have it! I suppose I sort of included female-fronted bands as well there, but I say it still counts! They still wouldn’t be the same without their leading gals! I imagine that you guys have probably heard of a few of these, but I seriously hope that you check them all out regardless. Go and show all of these lovely ladies some love, they definitely deserve it! That goes to the special women in your lives as well!

I’m not entirely sure I deserve it, but would you mind showing me some love as well? Only in the social media respect you understand. The asylum has a few pages out there that would be very lucky to have your liking/following patronage! I have a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram and lastly a page over on Twitter as well! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well. Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

How is your week going? I sure hope it’s been going well and as ever, I hope your creative enterprises are flowing wildly. Life is too short for weeks filled with misery. Life is for living! Or some such positive claptrap. Haha! On that note, it’s been an alright week so far here at the asylum. A few virtual meetings, more than a few beers and a couple new friends. I’ve also been pretty pleased with the poems I’ve been posting too. Not bad for me, I must say! A few more weeks like this and I may even feel genuine joy.

So, let’s attempt to get the joyous stuff eh? Todays the day of the week for the Harlequins writing music! Did anybody see the clue I posted earlier in the day? The clue for todays musical theme? I’m going to keep asking until someone actually tells me they have. It’s only over there on the social media sites you know. It was a really good clue too, honest!

Alright, the theme for todays music is… Acapella! It’s an area of music you don’t tend to hear much about and yet it’s pretty much always been there. Without the presence of instruments, humans have made good use of their voices to create melodies and the like. That is all acapella is, music without instruments. That’s not to take away from the skill that it can require to not only make the correct sounds, but also keep in sync with however many other participants you have. It’s no different to any other kind of band in that regard I suppose. Practice makes perfect and all that. Regardless of it’s a guitar or your own vocal cords. I’ve always enjoyed the sound of a well-performed acapella and yet I can’t quite put my finger on what is specifically their draw. They just sound…. wholesome? I’m not sure. I’m going to stop rambling and give you people what you came here for: the music!

Please my friends, join me as we delve into the musical minds of Acapella artists the world over!

Pentatonix – Daft Punk

The Alley Cats – Come Go With Me
http://www.thealleycats.com/

Smooth McGroove – One Winged Angel

And there we have it! How about that eh? Wasn’t that fun? It just feels so strangely wholesome and friendly, despite the actual content of the song. Maybe it’s just me. Regardless, I think all of these artists would appreciate your support. So go and check all of them out. Go on, do it! You won’t be disappointed!

Speaking of which, I’d also be really appreciative if you checked me out as well. Not physically mind you, just on my social sites. The asylum has a number of pages that you can view around the interwebs! Come and give me a like or follow sometime eh? It would really mean a great deal to me. I have a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram and a page over on Twitter as well. I’ve included the links here as always for you lovely people. Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I keep hearing that apparently spring has sprung or something. It is certainly feeling a bit warmer, though it’s been windy and a bit wet. I hope that is not a sign for the year going forward. I want some hot weather damn it! Anyway, how are all of you doing? How are your creative endeavours coming along? I hope they’re coming along nicely! I’d love to read or hear some of what you’ve been working on. I’ve been attempting to connect with fellow writers and creators over on the Facebook this last week and it’s been rather fun and enlightening already. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a good way to attract other readers and followers too. Not to mention advice and critical analysis.

So anyways, it’s time for the Harlequins writing music today! Did you realise that? Oh yea, of course you did! The clue isn’t in the title or anything! Haha! Did anybody see todays clue? I suppose unless you recognised the people in the picture it wouldn’t really be too obvious. Needless to say, we have a single artist post this week!

The musical theme for today, or rather our special guest, for today is… Sleep Token! Oh yes indeed! Now, as far as I can tell, Sleep Token is not a massively well-known band and so todays post may be an introduction for many of you. They are a band from my my very own United Kingdom, I believe London in particular. They’re a hard artist to pin down to a specific genre. Their music straddles numerous styles, even within a given song. They combine elements of your typical rock band, with indie, pop, progressive metal and even some jazzy bits and pieces sprinkled about. As such, every song kind of has it’s own identity that I really dig personally. Another thing that I quite like about them is the fact they’re another one of those lovely masked bands. They have the appearance of a cult and much of their stage performance reflects that. Masks and robes abound, and they don’t talk between songs. All of their members are anonymous and even up to this point, they have only conducted maybe one or two interviews. I quite savour the mystery of that. So, here’s hoping that you lot enjoy it as much as I do!

So, please join me as we delve into the musical minds of Sleep Token!

Sleep Token – Aqua Regia

Sleep Token – Alkaline

Sleep Token – The Love You Want

Sleep Token – Atlantic

Sleep Token – The Summoning

And there we go! What do you think? As you can see and hear, they’re a rather eclectic band and their lyrics can be rather obscure and esoteric as well. I’m not sure I’ve worked out what their music is about and I’m unhinged at the best of times! Regardless, I hope that you all enjoy this rather unique artist anyways and go on to check out more of their stuff. I’ll include the link to their website just below here as always.

So, now on to my usual social media spiel. The asylum also lives and breaths on other social media sites, not just here on WordPress. I have a page over on Facebook (as mentioned earlier), an account over on Instagram and lastly a page over on Twitter as well! It would mean a lot to me if you would visit and give me a like or follow on those pages as well! It helps me out immensely! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!
