Hello to all my fellow inmates!

Here’s hoping that you’re all having a suitably crazy day. I suppose you could say the world has gone mad recently. More mad than any asylum! I don’t believe i’ve seen the likes of this worldwide panic in my lifetime. It’s safe to say that this panic is very much justified though. I’m down to my last two energy drinks! It’s simply a scary time to be alive.

I hope that you are all keeping safe regardless. Try to think about other people in these trying times. It is a case of helping each other, even if that means simply staying at our homes. The medical services need us to help contain this coronavirus. As an aside, i’d also suggest calling people that are alone at the moment, such as the elderly. Just a phone call to check they’re doing alright, aren’t alone and aren’t desperate for any supplies. There’s a PSA from me to you. Haha!

So, it’s time for another edition of the Harlequins writing music today. My regular (or not so regular) carnival of musical artists whom I listen to while I write. They offer company and inspiration to me in a vast array of ways. I’m thinking that I ought to display some positive and upbeat sounding music today. We all need a little dance in our quarantines eh?

So, just me as we delve into the musical minds of virtuous artists the world over!

As always, one hopes that you give all of these artists a gander. They certainly all deserve it. It should also be said that they may help keep your spirits up in your quarantines!

Just quickly, if you like what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-Fi page! Thanks!

So, until next time, I bid you a very crazy (and safe) day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

As always I hope that you’re having a very crazy day! Things have been running at top rate here at the asylum. I’ve sort of got into a routine with my writing and various other things around the home. I’m writing more and, in my opinion, it’s gotten better! It’s helped with my recent trouble with mental illness enormously. It has to be said that the fact that people are reading and seemingly are enjoying my work has been a real boost. If even one person reads one of my poems, i’m over the moon!

While i’m on the subject, some shameful self-promotion once again! I’d be overjoyed if anyone would support the blog over at the Ko-fi page. Anything helps! Haha!

So, on to the purpose of todays post. The Harlequins writing music! As usual, i’m going to share with you all some of the menagerie of musical geniuses that I listen to and draw inspiration from. I implore you all to check some of them out. You never know, you may just find your new favourite band!

So, once again, join me as we delve into the musical minds of estimable artists the world over!

A few well known artists there for a change eh? Popularity doesn’t preclude inspiration or creativity after all. I hope you show these artists some love all the same! They all deserve it in my eyes! I hope to see you all in the next post! I think it’s almost time for another poem don’t you? Haha!

So, until next time, have a very barmy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

I hope you’re all having a good day. Mine has been an interesting one too. I overslept once again and forgot my medication. It’s been something of a trend this week unfortunately. But on the plus side, I’ve gotten a few poems out that i’m really happy with. In particular my most recent one “The Enclave” as it’s quite dear to my heart. This place I’m allowed to live in is full of the nicest and quirkiest characters I’ve ever known. The poem was a sort of “THANK YOU!!” to them.

So here we are with another edition of the Harlequins writing music. I’ve decided to do something slightly different for this particular volume. Something very strange you could say. I’ve decided to highlight a specific artist whom I admire and listen to almost daily. Drumroll please…

It is none other than Mr Strange! This glamourous artist has inspired me countless times. Their views on society and individuality are right up my alley. I’ve followed them since the days they were known as the Shanklin Freak Show! Their bizarre look and general oddity is a constant source of delight for me. I’ll be sharing five of their songs which I consider the best, though I’d suggest listening to everything they’ve produced!

So, join me as delve into the deviant minds of Mr Strange!

Mr Strange – Lizard Man

Mr Strange – Do It Like Pete Burns

The Shanklin Freak Show – The Last Show On Earth

Mr Strange – Exile

Mr Strange – Contact

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! As anyone who has read one of these posts before should know, I always include a link to an artists website or general webpage. This one shall be no different. You can find Mr Strange at https://www.facebook.com/Official.Mr.Strange/. I certainly hope you all give them a listen! They’re truly something else!

As for me, I shall bid you adieu and I have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

As always, I hope you’re all having a suitably mad (and productive) day! Things have been rather busy here at the asylum as well. Lots of writing and lots of giggling!I’m still in the process of sorting out my writing desk and general geek area. It’s coming along swimmingly, but my laziness gets the better of me on some days! The voices often tell me I need to get off of my ass, but what do they know?!

Anyways, back to the purpose of this post. Wonderful musical offerings that help me concentrate on my scribblings. We all know how soothing or energising music can be. I try to keep it as varied as I can, since the notes and tunes coalesce and produce thoughts of true creativity. That was rather profound wasn’t it?

So, without delaying any longer, join me as we delve into the musical minds of stunning artists the world over!

So there we have it for another volume of the Harlequins writing music! What a good time I have making these posts! As always, I hope that you give all of these artists a look. They most certainly all deserve it! I Feel I should also take this chance to suggest you look at my older writing music posts as well, if you enjoy this one of course! There’s quite a menagerie of musical marvels in those. Thank you for everything my fellow inmates!

So, until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

Hope you’re all having a suitably kooky and enjoyable day today! It’s been a while since we’ve been here, hasn’t it? It’s been far too long since I made one of these posts (and frankly, too long since I was active here at the asylum!). It’s a comeback special of the Harlequins writing music, would you believe?! Or at least that’s how I see it.

So what is going to make this writing post different? If i’m honest, not a great deal. It’s just a big deal personally cause i’ve not been active in so long. But i’ll tell you what. The voices in my head said I could have six songs/bands for a change from the usual five. Isn’t that kind of them?

So, without further adieu, join me as we delve into the musical minds of innovative artists the world over!

As always, I hope you give all of these artists a gander. They’re all rather exquisite. Also, I decided to include a rather diverse set this time, so hopefully there’s something for everyone eh?

So, until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a suitably crazy yet pleasant day today! I seem to hear nothing but news about the World Cup recently and how a ball is coming to my residence or something. It’s quite disconcerting. It has been a little while since I posted an edition of the Harlequins Writing Music so I thought I should rectify that. It’s the first edition of 2018, as a matter of fact. Halfway through the year, but we got there in the end eh?

So, here we go! I have plenty more amazing artists to share today! Inspiration is never-ending after all, it flows like blood through us. It’s the musicians who seem to be able to draw that blood so easily.

Once again, join me as I delve into the musical minds of fantastical artists the world over!

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! I just had to include that last one, the Ohmz are a local band. A member of the band is a friend, so I feel no shame in spreading their music. It’s really quite great if you like reggae or just any positive sounding music! I hope that you fellow inmates of the world decide to check out of all of these wonderful artists. They surely all deserve the love eh?

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

Here’s hoping that you are all having a explicitly marvellous day or night, wherever you are. Well, it’s hard to believe that another year is coming to a close. Christmas is nigh once more. 2017 seems to have gone remarkably fast! It’s been a perplexing year, with many good and bad things happening in tandem. Real life always seems to get in the way eh? I know the blog has been a touch on the quiet side, but I’d like to think that it’s coming back to life a bit now. On that note, I hope you’ve all been enjoying my newest poems.

So, it’s time for another edition of the Harlequins writing music. This is the 21st edition of this now, that’s pretty damn crazy. Perhaps crazier than me! As always, I’m finding new musical artists who bring new images, sounds and colours to my mindscape. Music is the ultimate inspirational factor in life, in my opinion. A song can inspire a story of woe or wonder. A song can provoke emotions of all shades. A song can galvanize ones writing, acting as a ‘nudge out of the door’ so to speak. It truly is a marvellous thing!

Once again, join me as I delve into the musical minds of inimitable artists the world over!

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! I hope that you fellow inmates of the world take a look at these artists, they’re all pretty great! As for my next writing music post, I’m going to try something a little bit different. I have two separate ideas for that, so we’ll see how it goes. Anyways, that’s enough rambling from this tired old Harlequin!

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

Happy eclipse day or whatsoever they decide to call today. Apparently there is supposed to be an eclipse at some point today, which is rather fascinating even though I am unlikely to witness it here in the UK. Still, it’s quite amazing that such a cosmic event is happening. Anybody out there in internetland going to try and witness it?

Things are functioning much the same way as usual here at the asylum. I seem to be in a bit of a pit in terms of writing inspiration at the moment. I’ve been coming up with poem ideas, then scrapping said ideas ad infinitum. It’s maddening really. Hehe. Maddening.

So, I thought I’d make another one of the Harlequins writing music posts today. Not for any reason in particular, I’ve just been listening to a plethora of music artists today and I felt I should share some of them. Nothing wrong with an impromptu spectacle of musical excellence eh? Quite an array of genres on show today I think. Here’s hoping you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Once again, let us delve into the musical minds of hellacious artists the world over!

Maybe, As always I hope that everyone who reads this enjoys it. I urge you all to check out these bands, even if you don’t think you’ll like their specific niches. You might be surprised.

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

My My, it has been a long while hasn’t it? It’s been about a year since my last post, my recent reblog notwithstanding.  This is something I am rather ashamed of, to be honest. I consider myself a writer but have committed myself to next-to no writing whatsoever. It is a great shame to me. I’d be quite surprised if many out there even remember the WorldofHarley or myself. If anybody does though, thank you kindly! You must be mad!

But alas, I am here to rectify all of that now. The Oldschool Harlequin is back and I will be sticking to it this time. It has been ,and will continue to be, a busy year but what is life without a challenge, no?

So I thought I’d return with one of my writing music posts since I am going to be listening to this stuff constantly while I burn the midnight oil. It is aural brain-fuel after all. It’s time for part 19! As always, I shall be displaying five music artists that I love to listen to and that inspire me and my writing. It can be any genre and sometimes I even surprise myself with the stuff I listen to.

So, without further ado, let us delve into the musical minds of masterly artists the world over!

Paddy and the Rats – Ghost From The Barrow

So there we have it for another volume of the Harlequins writing music! It’s been too long since I made one of these and I am sorry that. I hope that you guys have enjoyed this edition and will continue to check into the blog going forward. Be sure to give all of these artists your love, they are all exceptional (at least in my opinion). Be sure to check out my previous writing music posts, you’ll be surprised with the wonders you may uncover.

Until next time, have a very crazy day!

Good day inmates!

Here’s hoping you’re all having a exquisitely crazy day! I’m doing quite swimmingly myself, despite recent stress. There is, however, one thing that’s been bothering me recently. I’ve been suffering from a touch of writers block you see. I know some people claim it’s a myth but I’d have to disagree, it can be quite a significant barrier. Ironically I nearly have another poem ready on the subject of writers block. Irony itself. I’ve been trying to listen to a huge variety of music these last few days in the hopes that it will dredge up some absurdity to write about. A great deal of this music I haven’t listened to since I was a teenager, it’s been a rather nostalgic trip.

It’s time for part 18 of the Harlequins writing music! Once again I will have another list of five bands that I like to listen to while I write. As I mentioned before, I’ve been listening to a veritable feast of musical artists recently. Many of which I haven’t listened to in years. Inspiration will always come from the oddest places after all. From gothic to electronic; from metal to punk, from rock to rap, I always try to keep it varied. We wouldn’t want one of my sources of inspiration to stagnate now, would we? Hehe!

Now, let us delve into the musical minds of harmonious artists the world over!

Uninvited Guest – Devils Toybox
http://www.uninvitedmusic.com/

Dorp – Rollercoaster

Gogol Bordello – Wonderlust King

Finger Eleven – Slow Chemical

Breed 77 – Zombie
http://www.breed77.com/

So there we have it for another volume of the Harlequins writing music! I do very much hope that you have enjoying my list and that you feel inclined to check out some of these bands and also some of those in my previous writing music posts. You may be surprised what kinds of music you find!

Oh, one more thing before I go back to the padded cell. In my previous writing music post, I asked if anybody had any advice about getting a paid account on WordPress. I just thought I’d extend that request to this post as well, so I’m going to copy and paste what I said in the last post.

“There was one other thing I wanted to talk about quickly here at the end. I’ve been considering changing from a free plan on WordPress to a paid one. The opportunity to have my own web address/domain and eliminating advertisements are pleasing as it is, but I want to know about other benefits of doing this. Is it likely to increase traffic at all? Is it expensive? I was hoping anybody reading this would be able to tell me if it’s worth forking out money for the blog. I was hoping somebody who has a paid account could tell me how it’s helped or hindered them. Basically, I just want to know if it’s a good idea or not. If there are any good web-Samaritans out there, let me know in the comments. Thank you so much.”

So, as always my friends, have a very crazy day inmates!
