Hello there inmates!

How are you all getting on? Not frozen yet then I hope! It’s been a bit of a chilly one this week hasn’t it? At least it has been here on this island. It’s starting to feel a bit more like Christmas. So that’ll be feeling perpetually cold and having no cash whatsoever. There are certainly enough bright coloured lights everywhere! Happy holidays and such! I feel like my cynicism seems to be flowing at full power right now so I’ll apologise on that point. I’m loving life I swear! Haha!

So, speaking of loving life, who wants to listen to some music? Did anybody see the clue to todays musical theme? I thought it was a pretty good one, if I do say so myself.

Well, the musical theme for today is fantasy! Ahh of course! The realm of elves and orcs and short people with hairy feet. It’s one of my favourite genres in almost all mediums, behind horror of course. I’ve been fascinated with fantasy since my early years. Reading ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Sword of Shannara’ books back in the day definitely had an impact my interests going forward. I’ve written many poems about several facets of fantasy. From magic to mythical creatures, from wizards to worlds that don’t exist. It’s the quintessential essence of escapism, in much the same way as science fiction can be. I just think I’d rather be able to wield magic than fly a spaceship. How about you guys? Also, want to hear some music? I knew you would!

Good day inmates!

Disaster I say! Disaster! I’m feeling rather unwell this week. It’s not the great plague of 2020, don’t worry. Just a bit of a head cold. Seems to be going around a lot at the moment. Tis the season to be ill I suppose. It’s just making me feel rather run down and making my voice sound really low. Haha! It’s meant I’ve kept inside and working on my writing though, so silver linings and all that.

So, it’s that day of the week that I inflict the Harlequins writing music upon you all! You knew it was coming, don’t lie. So, todays musical theme is probably a bit of an obvious one given the season. The clue wasn’t exactly subtle. It’s Halloween! Samhain! Of course it is! My favourite time of the year, believe it or not! The voices in my head tend to enjoy it as well, so it keeps them quiet. I’m going to share with you five musical artists or individual songs that I feel embody this most spooky of festivals. From artists who dress up like monsters to heavy metal that personifies terror. I’m sure I can come up with a scare or two. Who doesn’t love a good scare eh?

So, join me as delve into the musical minds of ghastly artists the world over!

And there we have it! How about those songs eh? Some suitably scary tunes there to be certain. I hope these get you guys into the proper Halloween spirit. Check out these artists by the way, they do deserve the views, Halloween or not. I’ll still be sharing my poems over the weekend. The Harlequin doesn’t take a day off you know, not even for all hallows eve.

How about some social media links? The asylum has a presence on a number of sites on the world wide web. I have an account on Facebook, a page over on Instagram and even a page on Twitter! Be sure to follow me on those pages too! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page! Cheers for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy week and a crazy Halloween inmates!

Good day inmates!

Happy eclipse day or whatsoever they decide to call today. Apparently there is supposed to be an eclipse at some point today, which is rather fascinating even though I am unlikely to witness it here in the UK. Still, it’s quite amazing that such a cosmic event is happening. Anybody out there in internetland going to try and witness it?

Things are functioning much the same way as usual here at the asylum. I seem to be in a bit of a pit in terms of writing inspiration at the moment. I’ve been coming up with poem ideas, then scrapping said ideas ad infinitum. It’s maddening really. Hehe. Maddening.

So, I thought I’d make another one of the Harlequins writing music posts today. Not for any reason in particular, I’ve just been listening to a plethora of music artists today and I felt I should share some of them. Nothing wrong with an impromptu spectacle of musical excellence eh? Quite an array of genres on show today I think. Here’s hoping you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Once again, let us delve into the musical minds of hellacious artists the world over!

EDEN – Wake Up

Toto – Africa

So there we have it for yet another volume of the Harlequins writing music! I can’t believe I’ve made 20 of these now. I must be truly insane. Maybe, As always I hope that everyone who reads this enjoys it. I urge you all to check out these bands, even if you don’t think you’ll like their specific niches. You might be surprised.

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!
