Hello there inmates!

I hope that you’ve all had a wonderful week. You better be keeping safe out there, don’t make me get the jester stick! I’m kidding of course but I don’t want anybody to be having any trouble or illness! It’s been an comfortable week here at the asylum, though a tad uneventful. I’ve realised I am in serious need of some storage folders or something for my papers as they have outgrown the drawers they inhabited up to this point. Definitely something I’ll be looking into in the coming week. With the exception of one poem, I’ve actually felt less confident about the poems I’ve put out this week. I’m not sure if that’s just my usual self-deprecation or if they have been of lesser quality.

So, enough with the moaning, how about some music? It’s the Harlequins writing music today dont you know! I’ve decided to do something slightly different this week. I have done this same thing in the past, but I think that it’s been a while. I’m going to share some of my favourite covers this time! I think an artist can reshape an already great tune and make something new and beautiful. It may even shine a different kind of light upon the song and bring forth new resonance from it. Let’s see how these particular covers perform for you wonderful people.

Join me as we delve into the musical minds of superb cover artists the world over!

We Came As Romans – Glad You Came (The Wanted cover)

And there we have it for another edition of the Harlequins writing music!

Some interesting covers there no! I was actually more hard-pressed to pick covers than I was to pick artists for my “traditional” writing music posts! I hope that you all enjoy my picks and you also check out these artists. That includes their own works as well! I honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed with any of them!

So, how about some social media stuff eh? The asylum has a page on Facebook, I have a account over on Instagram and a page over on Twitter. It’d mean a lot to me if any of you cool cats would like/follow me over there, it really helps a great deal! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-fi page! Cheers my friends!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope that you’re all keeping safe and happy out in this crazy world! Things haven’t exactly quietened down yet have they? Though cases of Covid are slowing down a tad here in the UK, it appears that certain other nations aren’t so lucky. It concerns me quite a bit, because I have friends in these affected places. The US is a notable example. It is being handled horribly by an elite class that doesn’t appear to have much empathy for the working man. I dare not say the name of the one responsible in fears that he may appear. Like an inept Beetlejuice.

Enough about that though. I’ve bought three new books this past week, which I highlighted on my Instagram page. One of which was written by a very talented friend of mine; Rami Ungar. Here’s a link to his blog. Things here at the asylum are still steaming along quite nicely. I’ve been surprisingly content with my recent works which, as anybody who knows me personally can attest, is actually a supreme rarity. I can’t believe how close we are to 2000 followers now! It is truly humbling!

So it’s time for another volume of the Harlequins writing music! It’s rather astounding that I’m even able to still find bands that I’ve not already shared. I promise you though, my dear inmates, that I shall continue to find artists to stir your creative springs!

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of able artists the world over!

Evanescence – Call Me When You’re Sober

Real Hypha – Losing My Mind

Billy Idol – Rebel Yell

Twenty One Pilots – Ride

So there we have it for yet another issue of the Harlequins writing music!

I’d say that was a fairly varied arrangement, wouldn’t you? As always, I hope that you all give at least some of these artists a try, you may surprise yourself. Even if you don’t necessarily like my particular song choices, the artists may have something else for you. Worth a throw of the dice eh?

I hope you check out my friend Rami Ungar and his blog. He is a very adroit writer of horror in particular. Though he has all sorts of interesting things on his blog and also his Facebook page.

As I mentioned last time, I have a Facebook page, Twitter page and an Instagram page. I post some random stuff on each of these, as well as clues for each days poem a few hours beforehand. Sometimes I post weird photos of random objects in my room and “IRL” adventures! As always, if you like what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page! Thank you as always! I may or may not have copy and pasted that from last time! I can be a lazy sod!

Farewell for now and have a very crazy day inmates!
