I gaze upon the moon each night,
I sit in the dark,
Staring skyward,
My eyes reach out,
They can’t reach her,
They’re not worthy.

Crescent full or gibbous,
Her dazzling form lights up the dark,
An astral goddess,
An empowering icon,
A source of inspiration,
Playing kiss-chase with the clouds.

So why do I see a second moon beside me each night?
And beside me each day?
A moon of such astronomical beauty,
That it blots out even the lunar goddess,
Earthly yet still heavenly,
A goddess of a different kind.

Then I realize,
You are my second moon,
Superior in every way.

The accordion plays on and on,
Its player masked and humbly attired,
An apocalyptic accordionist,
Tight-lipped and stoic,
Longing for the end of all things.

On and on,
The world falls apart,
Flames jig to the tune,
The land quakes to each note,
Civilization gives a final emphatic applause.

The world moves to an inaudible drum beat,
Waiting for its execution,
The noose tightened,
And the guillotine lifted,
An accordion at the end of the world.

Each keystroke is a crescendo,
Each scale is a finale,
And each note is a curtain call,
An Armageddon,
So the accordion may cease playing.

The end comes,
The accordion plays on.

When life bears down,
I retreat to my old friend,
A tonic they call Absinthe,
A soothing barrier against life,
It dulls the edge of the world.

I slink back to my den,
My haven,
The candles burn softly,
As they waltz to an inaudible beat,
I begin to take my remedy.

That emerald nectar,
With all the qualities of poison,
Each sip instills a viridian shade of inspiration,
Each bubble is a window to worlds unknown,
Each gulp is a shot of escapism.

The room spins violently,
Like a portal to a new land,
The night distorts into flashes of green and black,
The remedy works its magic,
My old life is soon forgotten.

What will the morning bring?
Who knows?
I could be in a new world,
Or beyond the grave,
Absinthe makes it all possible.

There once was a man,
Bound to urges not his own,
But those of a monster,
A hydra of urges,
A terrible triad,
Serpentine and destructive.

It slivers unrestricted through his veins,
It chews relentlessly on his soul,
Coiled around his heart,
As an aegis,
And a prison,
Compelling and overwhelming.

He is the hydra,
And the hydra is him,
Three heads full of fangs,
Cruelty, Greed and Secrecy,
They nip and bite at one anothers flanks,
Tearing open each others plans.

One named Cruelty,
One head wishes the end of all things,
Its eyes sear with hatred,
It urges him to murder,
It rages at every breathe mankind takes,
It hisses in delight at the torture.

One named Greed,
It yearns for all the world has to offer,
And all that it doesn’t,
No amount of wealth is enough,
The green serpent glowers on with want and disdain,
It is the very spirit of envy.

One named Secrecy,
An antidote to save a life,
A confession to vindicate an innocent,
The esoteric serpent denies all,
No secret is too minor,
Kept secrets save no lives.

There once was a man with a monster within,
But was it a hydra?
Or the human heart?

Good day inmates!

This is truly a joyous day for me! I don’t think I ever expected to be writing a post like this. Or rather, a post about this. It’s extremely good news and i feel rather proud to announce it.

WorldofHarley has finally passed 1000 followers!!

Huzzah! The big one triple zero! I could scarcely believe it. It’s possible that you already knew about this if you’re one of our Twitter followers but still, I felt it necessary to make a short post (are they ever short?) on this wonderful milestone. I never expected it to get this far at all. I know I say that quite a lot but it’s true, I simply find myself dumbfounded each day! Each and every like, follow or comment is a reason to celebrate here at the asylum.

So basically, I’d like to thank each and every one of you that check the blog out, follower or not. You’re all amazing and you simply must be mad! Thank you, thank you and thank you! We simply must try to keep the madness going, no?

So, until next time, have an extra crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a great day. It’s Halloween! Or some may call it; Samhain, Hallow’s Eve or All Saint’s Eve! It’s the holiday of scares, it’s the time for spooks and scares and the best day of the year for dressing up like a loony. Halloween is like a second birthday to me. It’s the only day of the year I can dress as the Harlequin and not get darkly sinister looks from strangers. It’s a time for monsters, a time for haunted places and a time for standing under the glory of the full moon. I have frequented many a Halloween party in my time and they are always the best. It is my favorite holiday (in concept) and I adore it!

I thought I’d do something a little different today. Instead of writing a poem or piece of writing specifically for this special day, I’m going to post some links to some of my freakiest and spookiest poems on the blog. Similar to what I did in my “Reminiscing On Previous Madness” from a while back. I decided to do this simply because I tend to write a lot of poetry that could fit quite well with Halloween. It’s a celebration of my weirdness I suppose. I’m going to showcase my favorite poems about monsters, serial killers, ghosts and the moon. These are some of my personal favorite poems in general too, to be honest.

So here goes, prepare to be mystified and terrified! Oh, and enjoy!

Tarquin
It wouldn’t be Halloween without creepy or otherwise otherworldly house servants. Tarquin is a poem about one such man. A poem about an ungrateful (and murderous) butler.

Ghost Of A Clown
A small set of haiku’s about an ethereal clown with dark intentions. You’re not afraid of clowns are you?

King Of Scythes
The undead are a staple of Halloween. This is a poem about the monarch of the mortuary, the lord of the underworld, the king of the dead. Ghosts, skeletons and ghouls, oh my!

The Old gods
Halloween. HP Lovecraft. Cthulhu. Enough said?

Cannibal Heart
This probably fits more into horror rather than Halloween, but I’d say that cannibals and killers are monsters too. Cannibal is a tragic poem of one such monster.

Grinning Moon
The moon is a symbol of Halloween. Whenever you see a “Halloweeny” picture, you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be a full moon in it. It is as sinister as it is beautiful, and this poem reflects that.

A Bloody Legacy
Serial killers are the monsters that reside within human society. They can be anybody you see. They could be me, they could be you, they could be that guy standing right behind you right now. Don’t turn around, it’ll only provoke him! This is a poem written from the point of view of a particularly dire killer.

Festival Of Blood
A continuation of sorts of A Bloody Legacy. Even serial killers have homes, they too need to take a load off after a long day of maiming innocents. Allow this one to describe his den to you. In very graphic detail.

Beast Of Eyes
The night can bring out all manner of terrifying beasts, from the out-rightly brutal to the devilishly subtle. This being is an original creation of mine. I wrote a poem describing its desire to kill with a glance. Or several. Enjoy!

So there you have it my friends! I hope you check out some of my older poems, it does mean a lot. I hope that you enjoy what I have posted, and that you aren’t too spooked! Ha! There may or not be another post later on tonight, something of a more musical nature. We shall see how the time goes! For now though, I hope you all have a very happy Halloween and that you enjoy this very special day!

And as always, have a very crazy day!

Good day inmates!

A quick little note before my “main event” tonight. Oh yes, I’m posting something new tonight. Something a little different. Something a little political. I finally know when I shall be regaining internet. This is grand news as you can imagine, it feels rather odd never being able to access the internet. I simply can’t wait! I’ll be able to get back to unleashing more regular writings and ramblings as I was before. I will be regaining internet again on the 23rd of September, which is next Tuesday. Glory, I say! I hope to see you all around the asylum soon!

*wink*

Until next time my kindly inmates, have a very crazy day!

Hello there inmates!

Well, I’ve been away from the asylum for a little while now. You may or may not have noticed that I haven’t posted anything in what seems like an age. Well, it certainly feels like an age to me anyway. I have missed the asylum and the blog, that’s for sure!

Well, you see, I have been moving into a new flat with Lee recently. It’s been a long time coming really and we’re both very happy about it. It feels so uplifting and grand to finally be living with Lee, it’s really quite special. It’s a great little place that is just the right size for us. We’re both working all the time as well, so we don’t get a huge amount of free time either. It’s tiring, but it’s worth it. As we have just moved into a new place, we do not currently have internet. We’re in the process of rectifying that, but it will take some time as you can imagine.

All of these things add up to the lack of blogging time. I’m only able to post this from my parents house. I don’t really want to make a habit of this, since I feel guilty about it really. However, I have managed to get some writing down, between days off and break times. I have several writings and poems ready for posting already. I’m not sure exactly when they will be posted but it shall be soon. I may use the parents laptop to post one soon though, we shall see.

So yes, I simply wanted to give my beloved inmates something of an update to what’s been going on. WorldofHarley is very much still alive and the madness shall resume in earnest presently! I hope you’ve all been very abnormal in my absence!

As always, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

Remember me? It seems like it’s been a while since I posted anything. Ok, it’s only been half a week or so, but it feels quite a bit longer. Yet again, sorry about that. I’ve been very busy with a new job you see. Oh, the joys of capitalism eh? I’m still working on a Daetrolos piece and several Asylum Mythos pieces, so watch out for those. I’ve also began devising a new poem, which I should have ready and posted by the end of the week too.

Anyway, today I thought I’d respond to an award that I was nominated for a few days ago. This award is the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award. Quite a joyous and pleasant sounding award no? I was nominated for this by the ever-laudable Sourceror, a blogger I happen to enjoy reading very much. Thank you very much Sourceror for thinking of me, as always it means a lot. Loving the Facebook page, by the way!

wonderful-readership-award2

Right, now for the award itself! It’s a relatively simple one this time, no long questions or eccentric facts about oneself. You simply have to nominate 14 other bloggers and post links to their blogs. You see, the idea of this award is to give a little thank you to those fellow bloggers who regularly view, like and comment on you blog. So yes, even if you don’t do awards, consider this a personal thank you to yourselves for being such great little inmates!

The specific rules are as follows:
1. The nominee shall display the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award logo on his/her blog.
2. The nominee shall nominate 14 bloggers s/he admires, over a period of 7 days, all at once or little by little, by linking to their blogs and informing them about it.

I think I’m going to simply nominate all of my allotted nominees all at once, because I feel I will simply forget if I try to do it bit by bit. So here goes, these are my nominees!

Have a strikingly crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

I hope you’re all having a great day. Oh, and happy belated Independence Day to any Americans who happen to read this! It’s been a few days since I posted anything and I’m sorry about that. Work has pretty much worn me out, so i haven’t had much, if any, writing time. So I’m sorry about that. I’ll try to get on track in the coming week. I have Daetrolos piece in the works, as well as a poem. I also have several Asylum Mythos pieces in the works as well. I’ve been pretty much working simultaneously on three of them. So I suppose watch out for those soon!

With all of that said, I have been getting lots of random ideas recently. A job where you’re on your most of the day helps. I can sort of daydream while still getting all of my work done. It’s a really good deal, to be honest. If only I could listen to music as well, I would be getting inspiration left, right and center! Over the course of tonight, I’m going to post about a couple of the ideas that I’ve had in the last week or so. Mostly just for a change, but also to see what my fellow bloglings think of them.

So, there was another thing I wanted to ask in the post. How do all you get your inspiration? What influences your ideas? Are you inspired by music? Or things you see perhaps? I’d really love to hear from you all!

Until later, have a very crazy inmates!
