Hello there inmates!

So, another chilly December week is here (or halfway gone) and the Christmas adverts are beginning to become rather grating. The music is always going to be a negative for me when it comes to this time of year. So, I would not expect a ‘Xmas-themed’ list if I’m honest. It’s like “Yes, I get that it’s Christmas but do we need to be bombarded?!”, it’s tiresome. Anyway, enough about that, how have you all been? Keeping those creative furnaces burning hot I hope. Especially in this cold weather!

So, it’s time once again for the Harlequins writing music! As always, I shared a clue for the theme earlier on today. Did anybody see it and guess correctly?

Well, the musical theme for today is Bereavement. Oh yes, a tad less positive than last week eh? It’s something that I think every single person on this planet has experienced at least once in their lives. That includes musicians as well you know. As such, many artists have created songs based around the feelings of grief or more specific to the individual that they have lost. Somebody may write a song about losing their mother in particular, for example. Another artist may write about the life story of a family member. Music has a unique way of shining light upon emotional distress and so I feel it’s the best way to deal with feelings of sorrow and loss. I hope many of you would agree.

Would you kindly join me as we delve into the musical minds of solemn artists the world over!

Speaking of attention, I’m on social media you know! The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account on Twitter and even a page over on Instagram. Please follow me over on those too eh? It really helps me out! If you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page. Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

So 2021 begins with something of a whimper here in the UK, with a third lockdown beginning and numbers of people affected by Covid at an all time high. Not the most positive way to begin the year but that is the reality of it. If I seem a tad more sedate than usual, it’s purely because of the sad state of the world. I guess it’s just shaping up to be another troublesome year eh? Then again, maybe I’m just cold.

On a lighter note, the WorldOfHarley is still doing just as well as I’d hoped. I’ve been really happy with the poems in the last week, particularly ‘Residential Necropoli’. That’s been my personal favourite. Is it right for a creator to have a favourite piece? I’m actually unsure.

Now for the meat of todays post. Theoretically the reason you guys are reading it: the music. Ill be sharing five more artists today that inspire me, relax me, or even simply make me laugh and smile. I’m hoping to keep these posts up, but as I mentioned before, it’s getting harder and harder to remember more artists. I’m thinking it’s going to be a single artist post next week! As for today though, let’s get to it!

Well that was quite a selection eh? I try to mix it up a bit every week. It’s not easy I must confess. As always, I hope that you guys give each of these artists a shot. Especially if you haven’t listened to them yet. I bet you’ll find a new onsession!

So, let’s get the shilling out of the way. I have a Facebook page for the asylum, I have an Instagram page and a Twitter page as well. If you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-fi page. Cheers for everything!
