To a friend with no name,
I am no scholar of the heart,
But I see you,
You’re not alone my friend,
There’s a whole gaudy parade behind you,
Humans of every walk,
Humans of every ilk,
We are behind you,
You are not alien my friend,

There’s a parade of colour behind you,
Violets and reds and blues,
A veritable rainbow of people,
We are behind you,
And we shall jive and dance beside you,
Embrace and hold hands with you,
Hold the line with you,
You are not inequity,
There is no queer,

There is only humanity.

Oh yes,
That cloth of rainbows,
It is not my flag,
But I love it all the same,
As it flaps in tumultuous winds,
A freedom all its own,
It flies proudly at parades,
Raves of jovial feeling,

And so it should,
To love is to be human,
So love how you wish,
Gender be damned,
It’s a kind of amiable authority,
But all that holds this flag over our heads,
Is all of our own hands,
Because it is the right thing to do.

I found a new nation on my excursions,
This place of good feelings,
Rainbows and all,
All are welcome,
This land of love has open borders,
Manned by open arms,

Do not fear being yourself here,
We are all consenting adults,
Love any man,
And love any woman,
Or any shade betwixt,
Our flag says freedom of expression,

Souls have marched to create this nation,
Against status quo foes,
Stonewalls that stand for any soul in amour,
This is no mundane country,
Its borders span to every heart,
That has felt adoration for another,

Lets sing a swansong for division,
For judgement,
For homophobia,
That is this nations anthem,
Love for all,
However you identify,

Love is its own sovereignty.

Hey you,
You look glum,
A fellow oddity,
Has the world worn you down?
To a dirty sheen?
A cynical attempt to reduce you to normality,

People look down on you too,
You’re just like me,
A rancid freak,
A lunatic,
A weirdo,
A total loser,

What do you think it is?
Do you dress differently?
Is your countenance vividly chaotic?
All hair dyes and mascara,
Do they call you queer?
Do they throw their slings and arrows?

Come have a drink with me,
Let’s drink to disorder,
To individuality,
To our quirks,
To our life choices,
To ourselves,

You’re welcome at my table,
Our very own haven,
For all of us freaks,
Lets drink.
