Good day inmates!

I hope that you’ve all had a splendid thus far. It’s seemed like a rather slow and stressful week so far and I must confess seeing a bit of a dark cloud over my head at times. With that said though, I have been persevering and I’m not going to let the grim thoughts set in. Never again.

Well, let’s lighten the mood eh? Things at the asylum are going rather swimmingly as of this week. I know it’s silly to dwell on, but I have seen view numbers rise back to what they tended to be before the “lull” of the last couple weeks. Welcome to all of our recent inmate followers too! A cause for celebration no? How about some music?

That’s a segue you see. It’s time for another edition of the Harlequins writing music! Let’s celebrate five musical artists that I’ve listened to while writing, or even taken inspiration from directly. I hope that at least one of these fuels some your own creative pursuits my friends. Artists of all types must support each other right?

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of superb artists the world over!

Jeremy Renner – Main Attraction

Jinjer – Pisces

Tom Walker – Leave A Light On

CloZee – Koto

System Of The Down – Toxicity

And there we have it for another splash of the Harlequins writing music!

Some interesting artists there don’t you think? One of them is even an Avenger if i remember correctly. I’m kidding, it’s our very own Hawkeye! Quite a voice on him. Haha! Also, for some reason the social media of the artist CroZee seems to be suspended as of writing. I couldnt find any reasoning as to why. The music is still alive though eh? Here’s hoping that you give all of these artists a try. The jester in the attic would be most upset if you didn’t!

So, it’s time for my usual mumble about social media or something like that. The asylum has its own Facebook page, an Instagram page and a Twitter account. I tend to share random snippets of madness over there, as well as clues for my poems a few hours prior. If you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-fi page. Thank you for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

A counterpart of sorts to ‘Construction‘.

Today we earn our keep,
With sire and sibling,
We work through the day,
Sunrise to sundown,
Sweat becomes crowbars,
While effort becomes splinters,
Strain begets demolition,
Humanity begets ruins,

New homes become debris,
To a strangely upbeat radio soundtrack,
With the nails and detritus,
Plasterboard and nail hammers,
Lead and fragments,
We’re demolishing an old world,
Making way for a new one,
Or perhaps among a current utopia.

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a wonderfully splendiferous day today! Apologies for the lateness. I’m having something of a complex time now. Not in a positive way either, I’m afraid. I’m in the process of changing my living arrangements right now. Its much too hot, much too stressful and I’ll be honest, its getting me down. Im also forced to write up this post on my tablet. For these reasons, this post is going to be a lot shorter than usual. Sorry about that.

Its time for yet another edition of the Harlequins writing music. I find few things bring me more calm than a good song from an artist that one knows well. Let’s see what I can come up this time eh?

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of extravagant artists the world over!

Blur – Park life

Green Day – Basket Case

Scooter – The Logical Song

Juice WRLD – Lucid Dreams

Darkseed – Biting Cold

So there we have it for volume of the Harlequins writing music!

Heres hoping that you all give some of these artists a try. They all deserve the attention in my humble opinion. I tried to vary the the list to have well-known artists and more obscure ones. I hope you all appreciate their songs! Don’t make me call the clowns!

As always, I’ve got to include this little blurb here. I have a Facebook page, a twitter account and an Instagram page. Come on down and check them out. I post random little tasty sausages here and there, including clues for my poems a few hours ahead of time. Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-fi page! Thank you all so much.

Hopefully the next post will be more eloquent and less panicked. Until then, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a fantabulous day! I know I am! This is a bit of a different kind of post today. It’s something of a self-promotion actually. Shameful self-promotion. I’ve been ruminating for days trying to work out how to word this one. I must have written and re-written this post two or three times by now. It’s infuriating!

You see, I just recently set up a Ko-fi page for the blog. It can be found here! For those of you who are not in the know, Ko-fi is a website that enables people to support their favoured struggling artist by donating small amounts of money. The price of a coffee in fact. Obviously this is just a starting point, people can donate as much or as little as they please. You may be able to see where this is leading…

I’ve created my own Ko-fi page not because I want people to pay me to keep writing or even because I feel I deserve it, but because I simply need some assistance. This is most definitely not a replacement for a job. It is simply a donation to help me write. I want to create more art for all of you inmates out there. I want to do some more pictures with costumes or more facepaint, and learn some basic photoshop wizardry. Maybe some kind of commissions? Those are just a handful of examples. The ideas are endless really.

So simply put, my point is, if anyone has enjoyed my work here at the asylum over the last few years, it’d mean the world if you could donate to help me out. All for the price of a coffee! If you don’t want to or cannot for whatever reason, that’s absolutely fine. I’m simply happy that people seem to read my work. There is absolutely no pressure at all. I’ve created a page specially for this on the blog here. So there we go, simple shilling from your Oldschool Harlequin. What am I like eh?

So, until next time, have a very crazy day!
