Hello there inmates!

How are you all doing today? Keeping this artistic forges burning hot I hope! That’s what I’ve been trying to do as well. Keeping my brain busy you know? Just trying not to let the thoughts stray too far into the darker regions. I’m back on the laptop this week as you may be able to tell. Using the WordPress app to write last weeks edition was something of a needless struggle, so I resolved to stick to the desktop version this time. I’ll be curious to hear the thoughts of everybody on that. Anybody else create their blog posts using the app? Or is that a cardinal sin?

So anyway, on to the music for this week! Did anybody get the clue for todays’ writing theme? It was a fairly evident one honestly. It was a picture of a television. So what can we deduce from that? Well, it’s not as abstruse as it could be. I’m not clever enough for that! Haha. Todays theme is simply any music that relates to television or the media. I may or may not include theme songs in there. I haven’t decided at the stage of writing this section. Music and TV go hand-in-hand as you would imagine, you can’t really have captivating television without any music right? So many shows are recognised only on the first few notes of their theme songs. One that always sticks with me is the beginning of the Simpsons theme. On a completely different note, some music talks about the negative effects that too much screen time can have upon the human psyche. Or the effects of advertising and commercialism. Again, I seem to keep going on tangents like this don’t I? Let’s just get some music going please!

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of televised artists the world over!

And there we have it for another edition of the Harlequins writing music! What do you think? Do you think I had a reasonable variety of television-oriented songs here? I particularly enjoyed including a couple theme songs in there. That last one is a particular favourite of mine. The show is great as well. I hope you check out all of these artists as well. They all deserve the esteem to be honest!

So, let’s be having some social media spiel! The asylum has a presence on a variety of social media platforms. I have an account on Facebook, an account over on Twitter and it also has a page on Instagram. Please consider following and subscribing me over on those pages too. I share clues for my poems a few hours ahead of time. It’s all a bit fun you know! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope you’re all having a marvellous day today! Things have been looking up fairly consistently this last week. Both in terms of finding work and in my personal life. With that said, it may be unclear that things have been positive with the few poems I’ve written the last few days. Fear not however, I am doing alright. I merely have drawn inspiration from the darker side of the psyche! Haha! As for the blog, things are great to be quite frank. Ive been, as always, very humbled by the responses I’ve been receiving for them.

So it’s time for the next rendition of the Harlequins writing music. Still crawling up to part 50. I decided to do something a tad different in this particular instance. Instead of sharing five general artists I like listening to, I’m going to share five cover songs that I really enjoy. These may be from artists I’ve shown before, but the covers they’ve created. I think it takes real talent to take a song (occasionally a very famous one), and make it your own. I feel it can go wrong very easily. So, lets see how they do eh?

So there we have it for another tome of the Harlequins writing music!

Some good songs there eh? In a few instances, I actually prefer them to the originals. I understand that may be anathema to some of your ears but am I not an honest clown? Regardless, I feel it is worth giving all of these artists a chance. Whether it be their covers or their own original works. Go for it!

As you may have read somewhere before, the asylum has some social media platforms. I have a Facebook page, a twitter account and an Instagram page. It’d be grand if any of gorgeous inmates could follow me over there too! Oh, and as always, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-fi page! Youre all breathtaking!

Until next time, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

One hopes you’re all having a great day today! There isn’t very much to report of the asylum front. Things are running smoothly, at a fair rate of knots. I’ve actually been really quite happy with my last few poems, which is a rarity for me I can tell you for nothing. I’ve been sleeping a fair bit better the last week or so though, so that has definitely been a significant morale boost as well. Routine. Routine. Routine.

And as always, i’ve been humbled and charmed by the incomparable kindness of my fellow inmates! Your comments really do bring a smile to this old painted face. It has caused quite a contented chuckle from the other voices as well. We love you guys!

So, it’s time for part 33 of the Harlequins writing music! I have decided to do something a tiny bit different today. I’m still going to include five different musical artists, but this time all of the songs I pick will be covers. I find a good cover gives a new meaning and life to even an archaic song. The context could even change, a twist on the original. They most certainly have merit in my eyes. That is not to say that songs are bad because they’re older though of course! You can always have both! Here’s a few of my favourites!

I hope that you enjoy all of these covers today my fellow inmates! I just fancied doing something a tad different for this weeks writing music post. As always, I hope you give each of these artists a try, whether it be their covers or original songs.

Once again, if you like what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-Fi page! Thanks for all the support!

Until next time, I shall bid you a good day, doff my hat to you and wish you a very crazy day inmates!
