There is indeed magic in this world,
Not of mana and incantations,
But the realm of nature,
Not of glyphs and sorcery,
But of our verdant mother,

The spells she wields,
Those helixes of code,
They are in perpetual flux,
Building blocks on an atomic scale,
Altered slightly in every iteration,

The marvels she summons are indeed magical,
Species and races and every tint of the rainbow,
Our mutations are the gifts she enchants us with,
Our differences are the witchcraft in our human coven,
In the magic of our DNA.

To a friend with no name,
I am no scholar of the heart,
But I see you,
You’re not alone my friend,
There’s a whole gaudy parade behind you,
Humans of every walk,
Humans of every ilk,
We are behind you,
You are not alien my friend,

There’s a parade of colour behind you,
Violets and reds and blues,
A veritable rainbow of people,
We are behind you,
And we shall jive and dance beside you,
Embrace and hold hands with you,
Hold the line with you,
You are not inequity,
There is no queer,

There is only humanity.

We lost a man today,
I did not know him,
But i’ve heard his story oftentimes,
Police stops and biased chains,
Run down underdogs of colour,
Undeserving of vitriol,

Despite a merciless knee,
From an agent of racist divide,
He has risen,
To become more than himself,
An icon,
A catalyst,

Despite his past,
He has become a black knight,
Perhaps a ronin,
Not born to silver spoons and equality,
I’ve heard his story oftentimes,
He is every brother and sister beaten by blue hands,

Through his sacrifice,
To a cruel unfair world,
Equality has gained a new warrior,
There have been hosts before him,
Learn their names and stories,
Please,

Rest in peace now,
You face and life shall shine on,
All lives may indeed matter,
But some need our assistance,
Our vigil,
So let us preach black lives matter.

Three lions weep,
An English rose wilts,
Saint George hangs his head low,

Have we lost our way?
A lethargic populace and uncaring elite,
A blight of bigotry,

England is drunk upon past glories,
Like wines taken from distant lands,
At sabre point,

Empire is dead,
We are the ashes,
Soon to be scattered,

Our brothers of the Hills,
The Lochs,
The Isles,
And across the sea,
All creeds and ways of life,
All forsaken,

We are part of this world,
We do not hold thrones above it,
Humanity is our real flag,
Hubris has painted a sorry picture,
Something akin to a red cross.
