Hello there inmates!

How are you all doing today? Keeping this artistic forges burning hot I hope! That’s what I’ve been trying to do as well. Keeping my brain busy you know? Just trying not to let the thoughts stray too far into the darker regions. I’m back on the laptop this week as you may be able to tell. Using the WordPress app to write last weeks edition was something of a needless struggle, so I resolved to stick to the desktop version this time. I’ll be curious to hear the thoughts of everybody on that. Anybody else create their blog posts using the app? Or is that a cardinal sin?

So anyway, on to the music for this week! Did anybody get the clue for todays’ writing theme? It was a fairly evident one honestly. It was a picture of a television. So what can we deduce from that? Well, it’s not as abstruse as it could be. I’m not clever enough for that! Haha. Todays theme is simply any music that relates to television or the media. I may or may not include theme songs in there. I haven’t decided at the stage of writing this section. Music and TV go hand-in-hand as you would imagine, you can’t really have captivating television without any music right? So many shows are recognised only on the first few notes of their theme songs. One that always sticks with me is the beginning of the Simpsons theme. On a completely different note, some music talks about the negative effects that too much screen time can have upon the human psyche. Or the effects of advertising and commercialism. Again, I seem to keep going on tangents like this don’t I? Let’s just get some music going please!

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of televised artists the world over!

And there we have it for another edition of the Harlequins writing music! What do you think? Do you think I had a reasonable variety of television-oriented songs here? I particularly enjoyed including a couple theme songs in there. That last one is a particular favourite of mine. The show is great as well. I hope you check out all of these artists as well. They all deserve the esteem to be honest!

So, let’s be having some social media spiel! The asylum has a presence on a variety of social media platforms. I have an account on Facebook, an account over on Twitter and it also has a page on Instagram. Please consider following and subscribing me over on those pages too. I share clues for my poems a few hours ahead of time. It’s all a bit fun you know! Also, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page! Thanks for everything!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

Welcome to the first of a new century of Harlequins writing music posts! How are you all? It’s great to see you. It’s been a fairly uneventful week for me at the asylum this time. I’ve been keeping myself busy with my writing of course, but also a particularly amazing new video game release called Tales of Arise. Absolutely loving it so far. I’d recommend it to anybody that enjoys good old fashioned JRPGS. Yes, I’m still a gaming nerd. No, I’m not sorry.

So, anyways, enough about video games. You’re here for the writing music right? The Harlequins writing music that is! Did anybody see the clue for todays theme? I did post it a bit later than usual today I’m afraid. But regardless, did anybody guess it? Well, todays musical theme today is Europe!

Ahh yes! The home of the European Union and one of the great melting pots of the world. Arguably the birthplace of this modern world we all share. Industrial revolutions, political upheaval, cultural phenomena and grave wars. These things and more have shaped this continent and its many nations in countless ways. The various peoples and cultures of the continent all have their own ways and beliefs, and this translates to their music. Even in the same genre, music from one nation can be vastly different from another. They all have their own identities, derived from their respective histories. So, obviously I’m not going to be able to share a band or artist from each European nation. As much as I’d like to, that would be a herculean feat. So instead I’m going to share five of my favourites from the continent and leave the door open for other potential lists in the near future. Sound good? I’m very glad!

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of Eurocentric artists the…. continent over?

Volbeat – A Warrior’s Call

FUROR GALLICO – Canto d’Inverno

Eisbrecher – Was Ist Hier Los

Paddy And The Rats – Join The Riot

Jean-Michel Jarre – Oxygene, Pt 2

And there we have it for another musical list! Did any of those artists take your fancy? Well, I suggest giving them all a try, they all deserve your time. Can you guess which European nation each of these artists comes from? And don’t just cheat by reading the website links! That’s naughty! A couple of them may even surprise you, to be honest.

So, let’s have some good old fashioned British social media nonsense! The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account on Twitter and an account over on Instagram. Please follow me over on those pages too, it really helps! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page. Thanks for everything!

Until next week my friends, have a very crazy day inmates!

Good day inmates!

It’s your friendly neighbourhood Harlequin here, coming at you with a new post. I’m not sure why I opened with that, I wanted to be “street” for once. Haha! One hopes you’re all having a marvelous day. I’ve been getting out and about a little bit on my bike. Partly to break up the monotony of the weeks, but also partly to stop the bikes battery dying altogether. It’s happened before and it was no fun! Here’s hoping for the best eh?

The blog has been doing amazingly well this last week. We had the most views in one day just a few days ago. I was so humbled by it, I must confess. Also a couple days ago was the seventh anniversary of the asylums existence! It’s been one hell of a crazy ride, has it not?

So it’s time for the next edition of the Harlequins writing music! Part 34 already! Where does the time go? Well it’s going to be a “traditional” writing music post today. Five musical artists. Five artists worthy of your attention. In my opinion of course! As always I hope I include something for everyone.

So, join me as we delve into the musical minds of dignified artists the world over!

Hearts & Colors – Lion

Frank Klepacki – Act On Instinct

Eisbrecher – Verr├╝ckt

Ava Max – Sweet but Psycho

So there we have it for another issue of the Harlequins writing music!

As always my friends, I hope that you give each of these artists a listen. I’ve tried to have a varied list to potentially entertain each and every one of you. Give them all a gander though, you will be pleasantly surprised I assure you. Also, yes I did include a song from an old PC game. Just because I could!

Once again, if you like what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-Fi page! It’d be a real honour!

Until next week, I bid you a very crazy day inmates!
