In my dreams,
I often take off in astral form,
Cheered on by stadiums of stars,
Off like a spectral rocket,
As I soar through the cosmos,
Skip,
Zoom,
I take snapshots of the constellations,
Spying their empyrean forms,
Proving their fabled existence,
They dance sprightly about as I pass,
I’m an astrological tourist tonight,

I have flown so far already,
But there are more sights to see,
I stop for lunch upon the rings of Saturn,
Watching a show lightyears away,
A medical drama,
Starring the ministrations of Jupiter and Neptune,
They keep trying to revive Pluto,
Rambling onwards,
The sun is calling to me,
As I approach my eyes grow heavy,
The solar rays declare morning,
This astral vacation was over.

Souls be bound,
Occupying spaces within each other,
A synchronicity spanning star systems,
Soulmates under an astrological plan,
Designs with axes where two souls’ synastry can be observed,
The key is in the natal signs,
Locations of hearts etched on a chart,
Horoscopes blended together,

Humans are not mere flesh,
Though men are from Mars,
And women from Venus,
Souls are the domain of the very suns,
From Aries to Pisces,
Bound by birth date and name,
Under stars and astral bodies,
Compatibility left to the flux of the universe.

Humanity has always looked out to the stars,
An obsidian sea of potential,
A blanket of alien marvels,
We gaze up ignoring the carcass we sit upon,
As the Earth degrades bit by bit,
Her veins irradiated and gardens desecrated,
The mother dies in an indolent rasping grind,
Choking on forms of progress and ingenuity,

The time to venture forth shall come one day,
For our childrens children to be pioneers,
To escape this island we’ve ruined,
She cannot endure infinitely,
But what knowledge shall they carry on?
Will they utilise the lessons modernity has shown them?
Will they love the life of those new worlds?
Or exploit them to husks like our home?

I do wonder,
I wonder if they will avoid our antiquated methods,
Live alongside nature rather than bleed it,
Conserve the lives of flora and fauna alike,
Only take what they truly need,
Not revert to earthly consumption,
Will they use us as a cautionary blueprint?
Will they be better than us?

They’ll forge a final ark to pierce the clouds,
The launch will indeed be a swansong,
Hopefully for our old ways,
But perhaps for your hopes,
As their vessel surges heavensward,
When those rockets bellow like sanguine drakes,
To lord knows where,
Do they go as explorers or destroyers?

I once had a dream,
An esoteric dance of the mind,
A story of astrological language,
I made a raft out of fingernails,
Crafted by strength of Taurus,
With the helping hand of a ram of course,
Upon cautious and melancholic stone,
To skirt a blue sea of pisces scales,

For miles I voyaged,
Waters of empathy,
Drifting upon balanced winds of Libra,
Winds of expression,
Dodging ornery waves of piscine goats,
Sent by the aquatic bearer of divinity Aquarius,
I escape by the skin of my teeth,
I disembark above Cancer rockpools,

To be greeted by conjoined twin dockhands,
Eager to assist,
Onward to bend the knee to a lion king,
And his assertive fiery mane,
His scorpion royal guard eye me suspiciously,
Barbed halberds at hand,
His equine archers nock arrows in caution,
Tension grew like noxious clouds,

When it seemed their patience had run thin,
The hand of his princess out cast,
Her name Virgo,
The other stars faded,
An embrace commenced,
But then I awoke,
And the stars were gone,
Only sunrise remained.
