Hello again inmates!

Having a nice day? I certainly hope so. Me? Oh, I’ve been alright I suppose. Trudging along as I usually do, you know? I seem to be finding myself sleeping a whole lot more than usual. I daresay my new medication is to blame. I’m not exactly complaining, but it’s a little concerning. It’s early days though, It may well stabilise yet. It’s not even been a week. Think of me eh? Haha!

Anyway, enough of that nonsense! You’re here for some music, not for my whining! Who happened to see my clue today? Anybody? It was over on my social media. I hope somebody got it.

Well, todays musical theme is friendship! Oh yes! A very important facet of human life. Friendship and companionship. It’s something I’ve realised more-so in recent years. Even the most nihilistic and misanthropic of us needs others. Even if we deny it. We are social animals, so even the most miserable of us will suffer without any contact from other humans. This need for connection is a common trait in many artists music. It doesn’t have to romantic, they can be singing or writing about friends or even family. It could even be allies in a more distant sense. Many musical artists material can be dealing with joy of having friends around them, talking about the connections that friends have in a more metaphorical way or even missing a friend for whichever reason. It’s a rather broad subject once more. Let’s try and scratch the surface and get started eh?

So, let’s have some social media nonsense. The asylum has a page over on Facebook, an account over on Instagram and a page over on Twitter. Hello again inmates!

How are you all? Having a grand start to the month I hope. It’s finally June! It seems like that has come around really fast to be honest. It’s starting to feel summery already. It’ll be Halloween again before we know it. What’s that about the big red bloke? Saturn Claws? Never heard of him. Haha!

You know what else June means though right? Oh yes, indeed. It is Pride month! So it happens, pride month is the theme for todays writing music. I think the clue earlier on today was really quite obvious this time. But how could it not be about Pride month? The asylum has always believed that everyone deserves to lead the life they were bestowed the way they wish. So, all religions, sexualities, creeds and the like are welcome here. As long as nobody is getting hurt, love who you please my friends. I’m completely straight myself, but I will always stand by people of other sexual orientations. Love is universal and all that.

So, in keeping with todays theme, I am going to be sharing some lesser known artists that are of less represented groups. Whether that be gay and lesbian artists, trans artists or whatsoever else they identify as. Diversity is indeed on the rise thankfully, but it should still be noted that people of these groups are still maligned and misrepresented ofttimes in the media. I’m not a fan of that. There have been some amazing artists from the LGBT community over the year, too many to actually list here I’m afraid. I’m going to pick some of my favourites though and I hope you enjoy them too. Give them some love eh? That’s what Pride month is all about in the end.

And there we have it!

How about those choices eh? I’m sorry, I just had to include Adam Lambert I’m afraid. I’m a big fan believe it or not! I hope that you give all of these musicians a try! I wanted to include a metal or rock band, but I realised a bit late that it’s probably reasonably rare that an entire band would be filled with LGBT peeps. So, as always I hope that you go and check these artists out and show them some love!

So, now for some social media spiel! The asylum has an account on Facebook, a page on Instagram and an account on Twitter. Go and follow them for clues for my poems a few hours ahead of posting. And as always, if you enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over at the Ko-Fi page. Thanks for everything!

Happy Pride month and have a very crazy day inmates!

Hello there inmates!

I hope that you’re all having a suitably wonderful day today. I’m settling in to my new asylum cell rather nicely. I realised i’m absolutely rubbish at packing and therefore, it took a great deal longer to unpack stuff. In particular my clothes which took a day on their own. Despite all of that, I am loving my new circumstances and I’ve been told I’m looking a great deal happier. So yay!

So it is time for the next volume of the Harlequins writing music. We’re very rapidly closing in on part 50, which is still staggering. What is even more staggering is that you guys still seem to enjoy them, so yay again! We’re going to be exploring five artists that I enjoy listening to while I’m writing and chilling. Inspiration can come from the wildest places after all.
