Hello there inmates!

Well, here we are again my friends! Another wednesday and another one of my rambling walls of text. How are you all finding the week so far? It’s been a rather steady one here at the asylum. The poem ideas have been coming thick and fast, which I can only attribute to feeling generally more relaxed with the coming of the “Halloween weeks”. I’ve got lots of ideas already settled for next week, where I intend to focus on more of my horror or generally bizarre poems for the run up to the big day. That only seems suitable, no?

Though I’m not really focussing on that until Sunday or perhaps Monday, I chose a musical theme which still very much ties into the season. Did anybody see the clue for the theme earlier today? I felt it was a pretty telling clue. Certainly not one of my vague ones. It was right there on the social media pages. You guys should check those out sometime you know!

So, with October, comes a very “harvest” musical theme. The theme for todays writing music post is: Witches, witchcraft and magic. I know, it’s perfect isn’t it? It’s the season of the witch after all! Those terrific ladies of the dark (and white) arts, with their black cats and broomsticks. Those curious women who still follow the old pagan ways. The shamans, the soothsayers and the warlocks. Sometimes considered evil, sometimes pure good and even occasionally they just wish to be left alone. Understandable really. I’d say they are one of the first figures that can spring into the mind when one thinks of Halloween. That’s not to say they are delegated to being a holiday figure, indeed many follow the sorcerous customs all year round, in countless different forms. It just feels fitting to make a musical dedication to them this week. Let’s see what I can conjure up this week eh?

Please join me as we delve into the musical minds of magical artists the world over!

Annie Lennox – I Put A Spell On You

Rob Zombie – American Witch

Lindsey Stirling – Til The Light Goes Out

AC/DC – Witch’s Spell

Mercyful Fate – Witches’ Dance

And there we have it! Can anybody else smell witch-hazel and sage? I like to think I’ve managed to choose a damn good mix this week. Or maybe I’ve had a spell cast on my taste? That would explain a lot. Anyhow, I hope that you all enjoy the choices I’ve presented this week and that you check all of these artists out. They all deserve it!

Speaking of deserving, I don’t deserve it but I’d very humbly like to ask y’all to check out my social media. The asylum has a miniscule presence on a few pages out there. I’ll include links here for your convenience. I have a page over on Facebook, an account on Instagram and a page over on Twitter as well! Also, if you really enjoy what I do here at the asylum, please consider supporting me over on the Ko-Fi page as well! Thanks for everything my friends!

Until next week, have a very crazy day inmates!
